Next time I'll take off my "Will Perform For Waffles" sign before going to eat.

After three mornings of the exact same setup, this morning the hotel's breakfast buffet was arranged in mirror image. Not saying they're intentionally trolling my tired mind but I'd like someone to look into it.

I dreamed I saw a small child driving his family down the highway and I chose not to call emergency services until after taking a bunch of notes and practicing what to say. No, I haven't been feeling judged about my phone call anxiety, why do you ask?

It's possible there are people out there who see this view and have a normal amount of appreciation. I, on the other hand, react overwhelmingly with 'GO. Walk to the end. Meld your very being with this nature. You can no longer exist separately.' So, also completely normal.

Ah, okay - because I *did* look at that and think I could have added a few lines to make it more of a theme if I wanted. But that's what first drafts are for! I appreciate all your thoughts on it.

Thank you for the feedback! It still takes some courage to share any of my creative projects, but it's good to know what parts stand out to others (and what parts my brain skipped a few steps ahead on, even if it still works 😂).

I will be able to make the walk, and I'm glad, but I've written a requested story anyway. It's a barely edited first draft, so I'll beg your patience if you choose to read. Accidentally self-inflicted prompts of touring, writing, being trapped in a castle, and elephants. Also: CW for ideation.

On board with fresh chicken. Would prefer a raspberry tea or a proper hot black, not so sure about fish flavored.

If you can't make someone's day better, make it more interesting. Leave them with questions. Reply to the cashier saying "I think my caffeine high is wearing off" with "Really? You don't look a day over twenty!".

That sounds uncomfortably familiar. Consider the possibility that the build-up to it is worse (the part of the equation I always forget), though (unless it isn't, of course, I don't know what "it" is, might've been hired to pull out a lion's tooth for a very bite-y lion).

My obsession with him started faded when I took his writing workshop; classic case of "don't meet your heroes" (later attempts with other people I admire have thankfully gone better). The book remains, though; I identified with the character too strongly and lived there too long.

Is it only the demonyms that are the same in both singular and plural form that sound wrong? The -ese words are always that way (based on what I just looked up), and you can't add an -s to Swiss. I wonder if there are less common ones that my brain wouldn't automatically hear as plural.
010
Bronwyn @mythalive.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
Now I'm down a rabbit hole regarding collective nouns including the historical frequency of the singular vs plural. I wouldn't look twice at either sports example, I would at someone saying "the family are here", but I also would at "the staff is upset". Agree about "the Swiss". That's weird.

I also have two non-friend special interest people. I met one unexpectedly and I'm not entirely sure what I word-vomited, so you aren't alone there. The other, thankfully, was planned, and now I just hope my weirdness (including brain-spillage) is tolerated.

Pointing out the synonym is an objectively better argument and I'm glad you've made it. It means I can be right about my grammar while still stubbornly debating singular groups. (I am foreign and inexperienced in the ways of using "the bollocks" as a positive term, so cannot speak to that portion.)

Bronwyn @mythalive.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Bit conflicted here. Had you said "having the balls to do" the having would be singular. Can however many balls taken be grouped together as a single amount, therefore using "merits", rather than individual items which would require "merit"? I'd make the argument at least.

Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

I have mostly lost the ability to be jump-scared, so traditional haunted houses are a sensory nightmare without the benefits. I also tend to get confused and walk into the backstage area. But there's an immersive (not extreme) one nearby that's more of a guided walk through a story, and I love it.

I've reached a very early beginner level and might benefit if I went again, but I'm annoyed at them insisting someone with nearly debilitating social anxiety and zero experience write a set and perform on the spot without help. So, should try? Yeah. More likely to turn it into material? Also yes.
