Donkey Kong 64 contains unused text that would have referenced the Gold Skulltula sidequest from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as a joke explanation for Donkey Kong not being able to do something.

(mockup screenshot using text extracted from files)
HEY, DONKEY, YOU'LL NEED 100 SKULLTILLEYS IF YOU WANT TO RACE ME!
Donkey Kong 64 contains an unused line of text for the seal in Gloomy Galleon where he tells Donkey Kong that he needs "100 Skulltilleys" to race him. This was intended to be used in the game's demo as a joke explanation for why the race cannot be accessed.
This is of course a reference to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, where Gold Skulltulas can be found all over Hyrule. Defeating them produces tokens, 100 of which are needed to lift the curse on a family in Kakariko Village which turned them into spiders.
The spelling "Skulltilleys" instead of "Skulltulas" appears to be an inside reference to the name of Rareware artist Carl Tilley, who worked on this game.

In the Mario Teaches Typing games, Mario never criticizes the player for underperforming and tries to be understanding and supportive. According to Charles Martinet, that was his initiative, as he felt being negative would go against the core principles of Mario's character.

In the Mario Teaches Typing games, even if the player does badly or underperforms compared to previous attempts, Mario will try to be understanding instead of critical:
Uh-oh, that wasn't quite as fast as the last time.
Hmm, are your fingers getting tired? Mine would be by now... if I had any. (laughs)
Charles Martinet, speaking at TooManyGames Convention 2021:
I got this marvelous opportunity to do Mario Teaches Typing. And when I got the script and I'm in the studio - I'm reading the script for the first time, there were things like "You failed!"
"That wasn't very good." "That was much worse... that was bad."
And I was reading that and I said, "Do you mind if I just, like, play with these words a little bit and just change them around?" because, you know, I never say "no" and I never say anything negative as Mario... and the producer graciously said "Sure, go for it!"
And so it became "Oh, that was good, but I know you can do even better!" "Oh, nice one but let's try again!" so it was always uplifting and always trying to be positive. And I think that that is the essence of the character to me - it's that love and that joy.

37. Metroid NES. This game gets a lot of props for being the first for a lot of things. Truly a pioneer of game design and has a lot of cool things going for it that was almost immediately surpassed the following games in every way. This game was far too ambitious for the hardware it was on.

Box art for Metroid for the NES. Password Pak. Metroid for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Pack. Adventure Series. Nintendo seal of approval in the bottom right corner of the box art.

It's NATIONAL GAMING HAND-HELD DAY! What, you didn't know?? Of course you didn't, because I just made it up! But I've declared it now, so just lean into it. Of the six main model releases of the Nintendo Game Boy, what's the one you have the most fondness for? Which one is 𝙔𝙊𝙐𝙍 Game Boy?

A graphic I made (that took a long time, I'm slow but I wanted it to look nice!) showing from top left and clockwise, Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Micro, Game Boy Advance SP, and Game Boy Advance. The background is a blurred image of one of my Retro Blat logos with sunset pink and purple shades.
