Mister O'Connelllll! The Mummy is one of my fav movies ever so here's a warmdown portrait #fanart

Painterly half-body portrait of Brendan Fraser as Rick O'Connell in The Mummy. He stands relaxed, arms folded with a confident look at the camera. He wears brown trousers, a white shirt, leather holster with two guns, and a loose blue scarf.

#dimileth Happy Birthday Byleth! A little Hopes drabble about Jeralt not being the only one to give her a gift 🤭

“Happy birthday, kid. Here, got this for you.”

Jeralt felt rather pleased with himself as he handed Byleth a hefty book. The damn thing had cost an arm and a leg, but any price was worth seeing his daughter’s eyes light up, a rare smile on her lips. He still wasn’t sure what to make of her sudden passion for Fodlan’s history, but he wasn’t complaining. Ever since they’d joined the kingdom army and she’d started making friends with kids her age, Byleth had blossomed in a way he’d once thought impossible.

“Thanks,” she said, the simple word belied by how tightly she clutched the book to her chest.

“Glad you like it, kid. Anyway, I—”

Jeralt paused, his eye catching on an unexpected flash of blue. There was a brooch he’d never seen before pinned to Byleth’s cloak. When he leaned in for a closer look, he nearly choked. What he’d assumed to be glass was in a reality a massive sapphire surrounded by delicate silver filigree, that was definitely worth more than the average soldier made in a year.

And in the centre was engraved the Crest of Goddamned Blaiddyd.

Well, if there’d ever been any question that it came from someone other than that mooning royal brat, there was none now.

“That’s a, uh. Nice brooch you’ve got there,” Jeralt said carefully. He could already feel a headache forming.

Byleth touched the sapphire gently. “Birthday gift.”

Jeralt wanted to scoff at the king’s audacity. Birthday gift? As if. He knew a betrothal gift when he saw one.

But before he could figure out a way to explain things to the kid, Byleth began to smile. Not the slight smile she’d offered him, but a grin, wide enough that her eyes crinkled up. And was…was she blushing?!

Jeralt could only stare. She’d never looked more like Sitri.

“Uh. Right.” Jeralt coughed into his hand to hide the sudden prickling of tears. He needed to focus on present matters, such as the king of Faerghus angling for his baby girl’s hand in marriage. Or worse, that she might actually accept.

Jeralt pressed a hand to his now aching forehead, ignoring Byleth’s curious head tilt. Great. Just great.

Well, he consoled himself. If things went south, at least they’d be able to buy a new life in Albinea with that stupid rock…

One thing I miss from the bird site is when people would reference recent things with your favorite ship to mock it instead of choosing something that’s already a long closed book. I mean, all of it sucked, but at least it was entertaining.

#WIPWednesday! I’ve been hanging out in sprints a ton this past week or so to work on various drafts. And yes, that includes this glennleth piece!

The Red Wolf Moon felt uneventful, to say the least. The excitement from the post-battle feast had winded down, and the White Heron Cup and Founder’s Ball were still a moon away. Some of Byleth’s classmates had already been discussing who would be selected as the Blue Lions representative. All Byleth knew was that Lady Rhea had already trained her as a Dancer two years prior, so she was barred from competing.

What Byleth also knew was that the newfound downtime meant her old routine with Glenn and Reus was back again. Free days after the day’s tournament matches were spent sparring at the training grounds. The three had fun, and it came with the added bonus of no one being able to make any weird rumors about her and Glenn. But also, it meant Byleth couldn’t act on these strange, new impulses she’d been dealing with.

I *love* when I finally think of a name for a character, don't get a moment to write it down, and then I return to the WIP months later totally forgetting what I was going to name that character who's only mentioned in one scene.

The self-indulgent things you put into your writing are appreciated by readers even if it’s not their usual interest(s). It isn’t excess. Including what you love in your works marks them as an imprint of your soul. In this era of opposing AI it’s more important than ever to be brave and personalize.
