I love Minneapolis
Jake Lang, a Nazi asshole, getting his ass picturesquely whooped in downtown Minneapolis by a person dressed as Spider-Man

I cannot overstate how much this photo looks like a comic book cover

For future history books: Spider-Man punches Republican Christian nationalist racist Trump-pardoned Jan 6er pos Jake Lang.

The cover of It's Out There by Myles Roberts alongside the BookMatch logo and the text: Check out this Indie Sci-Fi book available for review on BookMatch.co.uk
Text reads: It’s a thousand or so years in the future. The Galactic Human Empire collapsed into myth and ignominy centuries ago. Life is good, but Turchin Shelton is bored. He longs to travel, to see the stars, and now he has finally been made redundant, the only thing keeping him on his home planet of Linto is the gravity.
So, when an abandoned spaceship mysteriously floats into his home starsystem, it seems like it might offer a low budget way to explore the cosmos.
This is the tale of Turchin’s comic adventure across the galaxy, in a ship that cannot remember what its original mission was but is sure that it was something important.
And, in the absence of a definitive history of the Galactic Human Empire, it might also be the most authoritative work on that topic to date.Text reads: Genre:
Space Opera
Comedy
Cosy
Space Exploration

Age: Adult / New Adult / Young Adult

Length: 224 pagesText reads: If you’re a reviewer of fantasy, sci-fi or horror, and want the chance to review a curated selection of books like this one, or if you’re an indie SFF author who wants to submit your book to over 200 active reviewers, get over to BookMatch.co.uk and sign up today!

Round of applause for Jeff, really worked his arse off this month to rack up an incredible one sale. That's a record that may never be beaten. Fortunately, sales from my own website have been considerably healthier. Link in bio. #sciencefiction #debutnovel #newfiction #booksky

A year ago last weekend, I started writing It's Out There. Although for a few months now I've had ideas for what I'd write next, it was this week I finally started work on what I'm tentatively calling Another Book. #booksky #sciencefiction #debutnovel #newfiction

I've never really used AI for anything so this is my first experience of it getting something spectacularly wrong. Unless it knew I was researching a new novel and was trying to help me out 🤔 #NoAI #sciencefiction #debutnovel #booksky

I cannot cope with this. Just the prospect alone is incredibly stressful, I am trying to mentally work out how on earth I am going to catch up with 4-6 days of missed work because I am unable to do anything other than sweat.
Screengrab of the met office's predicated temperatures for the week, which are 10 degrees too high.

About the author: Myles Roberts is not an author – this is his first book and he’s almost fifty. I mean, come on. He lives in Bristol, UK, with his son, his cat, his skateboard, several electric guitars, a lot of books, and even more records. #booksky #debutnovel #newfiction #independentauthor

This is fine, right? I'm new to Amazon so I'm assuming this is what's meant to happen when you spend the two hottest days of the year so far setting up your account 🤨 #amazonsucks #bezosbites #booksky #self-publishing

Back to another of my favourite authors, and this time the title story of the 1976 collection ‘The Grain Kings’. My own edition doesn’t boast this fabulous Chris Foss cover, but I confess this image still permeates my reading of this fine novella! Such a brilliant writer, I never tire of his work.
Cover of the Panther paperback edition of the SF collection ‘The Grain Kings’ by Keith Roberts. Cover by Chris Foss, showing a gigantic ‘combine harvester’ machine of the future.

So, what are people doing about ebook platforms? Just bung it on Amazon? Go wide with D2D? Get a PhD in Computer Science and try upload to Apple? Any suggestions welcome, I've seriously never read an ebook in my life... #ebook #booksky #selfpublishing #independentauthor

I don't think human language has yet evolved the vocabulary needed to express how unnecessarily awful Word really is. I must've spent hours trying to correctly format the page numbers. Don't even get me started on the number of lines to a page fiasco. #booksky #debutnovel #indie #microsoftword

Full cover layout finished. At last. I think. Can I send this to print now? Yes, I know the front and back aren't perfectly centred, that's the bleed apparently. "If it bleeds, we can kill it." #booksky #sciencefiction #coverart #newfiction

I was very wary about creating Eva. I feared that a middle-aged man writing a young, female character (OK, 500+ year old spaceship) could go horrifically wrong in a variety of ways. Thankfully, she worked out. #booksky #debutnovel #sciencefiction #newfiction

Proofreading is complete, now it's go time! Many thanks to Rebecca (the Proof Fairy) for undertaking the arduous task of going through my manuscript with a fine tooth comb. Fortunately, she managed to persuade me that, unless I used fewer commas, there would be none left for the other writers.

I read everything by these two authors when I was young, but that was a long time ago so I was surprised at their influence when I wrote the book. It's not the successor to either book, but I've written something with stupid humour and angry optimism. I got that from them. #vonnegut #douglasadams

Opening sentence: "Turchin Shelton had lost his job." Second and third sentences, for those who are interested: "Actually he had not lost his job. He still knew where it was, he just no longer had access to it."
