There's some fuss about the forthcoming Eggers Romeo & Juliet apparently being filmed in "olde English". I'm going to assume everyone means Shakespearian English (i.e. early Modern English) and not the language of the Saxons etc (i.e. Old English).

I am in no way against using whatever means are available to make art. Having said that, I cannot help but think the incentivisation behind certain design practices that are predominantly reiterative has lead to an industry of visual reproduction.

Finished another revisit of Bank's The Player of Games. My fave scene is where one character is blackmailing the protagonist, and must first explain the concept of blackmail to him because life in a utopia means it's completely alien. Superb book.

Good conversation. I relate to Remski's thoughts around having experienced a better society when younger and specifically how that has impacted the arts etc. Younger UK people I know simply haven't worked in conditions where 60% of their wages went on rent.
