Hospital protests have begun for hospitals that are complying with an executive order banning gender affirming care. The order does NOT have the force of law, but some hospital systems are too scared of trump to defend trans kids in their care. This one at UVA Hospital.

My mom passed away from pancreatic cancer 15 months ago. She didn't let it stop her from enjoying every moment she could. 4 months before she died, she joined us for my brother's wedding. 2 weeks before, she went to her 40th high school reunion! There is always a glimmer of hope, if we look for it.

I guess I'm a little confused about how the situations are equivalent. She's not my coworker and hasn't demonstrated a pattern of ignoring my boundaries when asked repeatedly to stop making comments I find uncomfortable. That would be pretty fucked up, and yeah, would make me feel unsafe.

I'm also feeling some kind of way about the fact that people act like experiencing DV is the end of your life, as if you can no longer appreciate humor or feel joy... Plus, dark humor is a big part of how some of us cope. It's not automatically wrong to joke about heavy topics.
