Aetherdrift is one of the sets I will fight people about. So many people tell me it's garbage and yet players keep discovering cards in it. I think it's definitely going up in people's estimations though. Not my favorite set of 2025 (that was EOE) but I still love it.

Looking through the Aetherdrift cards while trying (and failing) to work on an assignment for one of my classes, and like, I'm sorry, that set was an all-caps BANGER. In retrospect, Aetherdrift was a really ambitious Magic set, especially in it's theme, variety, and art direction

That's a hard question. One thing I've found is mana sources are harder for new players to "get" so I don't go with those. Slippery Bogle, Raging Goblin and Gingerbrute are the ones I keep going between.

Does @magic.wizards.com not know how sacred trans rights are to those who make Magic & the community surrounding it? We can debate the efficacy of advocacy-through-products; But this'd be one of the few IPs that could organically incite an impactful boycott across play, commentary, & production.

As someone who builds a lot of decks that get rated as B3-Low by your system, I'd say one thing that can characterize the difference between them and B2 that you don't touch on is they often have a combo that keeps them outside of B2 either because of number of pieces or generally because of speed.

They did the Blob and Armageddon! Both ones I've seen be dubious of their status in the collection. They have anime on the streaming channel. Criterion is about history and culture as much as the films themselves.

"Taking a dip in a piranha pool" is infinitely less vitriolic than people wishing literal "I hope you die" sentiments and it's a completely unrealistic scenario. I see posts get away with breaking every one of the "for example" bullet points and yet it's only trans folk who get held to standard.

Putting a drone launching site directly in the landing path for DCA is a stupid, dangerous, and unworkable idea. Trump clearly expects to lose a lawsuit and therefore wants to set up a pretext to argue that the arch is tied to national security. Which is obviously idiotic.

This is the sort of discussion that I hate having on bsky because it's impossible to put in everything you do know as background. Yes, I know that Roko's Basilisk isn't inherently, but when you need to talk about where that started, the Methods of Rationality (which is the ref) is going to come up.

Fair! Yeah, I wasn't attempting to conflate them, just that all of the pieces I saw had brought up the Potter stuff. That said, that I remember it doesn't mean that it's a part other people remembered.

Yes, and I'm not trying to convince you to feel differently on it. As I said, it's just that it read to me like a magical math version of that based on the story itself. I will give you that there are cards (like Koth or Budding Insurgent) that suggest the story was wrong in the characterization.

mxkale.bsky.social @mxkale.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

I wouldn't even characterize them as figments of his imagination. Based on what we were shown, he set parameters and then let the simulation fill in details. I still just have problems separating the Echoverse conceptually from an LLM's output.

100

mxkale.bsky.social @mxkale.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

The other option we were given any information on was that Tam said if no part of Jace was alive then it would stop. Logically, that suggests if she'd died the Echoverse would have gone away as well. I don't know if that option is any "better" though. It still ends with them all leaving existence.
