Two homemade pide before baking. They are filled with spinach, and are more long and skinny than boat shaped.

Two homemade pide after baking. The filling is darker and toasty, and the openings have widened out. Bread is lightly browned.

Umm... so... What do I do if the tofu has clearly produced a ton of gas in this package?

Block of tofu packaged in plastic. The plastic is a bulging bubble, when it normally would have more of a shrinkwrap appearance. The box it came in is behind the tofu bubble.

Spring has sprung. There's useful sun reaching the ground in the front yard again. It only lasts a couple hours so far, but long enough that it's worth putting out the solar farm.

Yesterday's #BoardGames was Dinosaur Island. We have the lucky special fan-made dino meeples for extra fun. I won - spouse had too many hooligans and deaths.

One really big millet cake in a shallow pan that is normally a cookie sheet, on a kitchen counter. Ingredients were millet, carrots, spinach, shallots, garlic, olive oil, cilantro, plain yogurt, one beaten egg, Moroccan spice mix.

Quinoa salad with an Asian theme. Contains tricolor quinoa, red cabbage, carrot, green onions, tomatoes, cucumber, red capsicum, edamame, with dressing that contains soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, sesame oil, canola oil, kewpie mayonnaise, sugar, garlic, ginger. Also, crushed wasabi peas on top.

A pot full of pasta fagioli. Ingredients are orzo, kidney beans, cannellini beans, celery, carrots, onion, garlic, red chili pepper, canned pureed tomatoes, oregano, veggie broth, bay leaf. The picture was taken two days after it was made, so it has stopped being soup. Still tasty though.

Ā square white plate with beans and rice. The rice is white jasmine. The beans are very dark brown kidney beans after simmering for a couple hours, surrounded by veggie mush that started out as celery, green bell pepper, and onion. Also has bay leaves, garlic, oregano, red chili pepper, thyme.

Foray into beans parts 6 and 7. White bean garden salad and cowboy rice salad. We ate most of 6 before I remembered to take a picture. Links and stories coming soon...

White bean garden salad in a small rectangular Sistema container. The beans are cannellini. Also in the salad are green beans, fresh Italian parsley, feta cheese, fresh dill, and a chimichurri sauce. The sauce was garlic, more parsley, olive oil, red wine because I didn't have vinegar, salt, pepper, blended together.

In a big steel pot, the cowboy rice salad includes black beans, brown rice, corn, tomatoes, orange bell peppers, red onion, avocado, and a sauce. The sauce is key lime, perilla oil because I was running low on olive oil, honey, chipotle, cumin, garlic, salt, and pepper.

Update: the soup came out good! I used beef but can definitely taste how lamb would go really well with the other flavours. Will be adding it to my regular rotation of root veggie soups (currently includes borscht and maafe).

#BoardGames tonight was Covert. An oldie but goodie about being a spy wandering around Cold War era Europe doing missions.

The board game Covert, set up for three players. Picture was taken at game end. The board is a map of Europe divided into different coloured zones, and covered in meeple operatives and intel cubes in three colours (for three players). There are mission cards and equipment cards around the board.

[#food] Dinner a few nights ago but I forgot to post: jabchae. My first try at it, and it came out pretty good. :)

Bowl of jabchae (Korean noodles). Ingredients are sweet potato noodles, carrots, red capsicum, onion, portabello mushrooms (couldn't find shiitake), zucchini, cabbage leaves that are related to gai choy (it grows as a weed in the garden), beef strips.
