FWIW - I've been transitioning from Scrivener to a newer application Deckle. It has writing, notes, places to hold research, but is much, much, simpler than Scrivener. It's new and still rough, but I haven't found anything disqualifying. It costs. Includes formatting. No AI so far. deckle.studio

Hey....WHY I LOVE HORROR is only $1.99 on Amazon and it is back to having an orange banner. @sagapressbooks.bsky.social @laneheymont.bsky.social Buy your own copy wherever books are sold. Preferably your local independent bookstore.
A screen shot from 10/15/26 with WHY I LOVE HORROR by Becky Siegel Spratford and it's "Best Seller" organe banner on Amazon.

Book Cover-- a mottled gray and white background with a tall and long black figure with claw like hands. It is black and ominous with a tiny head, Not too scary, just ominous. on its left, it is holding the hand of a small black human figure who is leading it confidently. Overlaid is the title- WHY I LOVE HORROR (1 word per row). The letters are in a dark gray but the letters that overlap with the monster are in red. In the top right corner it says "Edited by Becky Siegel Spratford" And down in the bottom right in the space just above where the monster and figure are holding hands it says "Essays on Horror Literature."

There is also a seal next to the human figure that denotes it won the Bram Stoker Award.

The AcePro2 worked well for videos, but it's an action camera. Not so good for photographing children. I'll sub in a point-and-shoot soon. Kids too young to deal with the Cybershot. Hoping the Charmera - look through range finder and push the button - will interest them.

So far, so good. Stuff I learned: Leave the equipment you're not going to use on location in the hotel: printer, microphone batteries, Sharpies don't work for headers, the ink bleed through Don't carry a highlighter or a crayon in your pocket in the AZ heat

Hollyland Lark Max 2 microphones for videos. Bought these for doing interviews in the library. The sound is way better than the phone mics. I like these because they are flexible: mics have 32bit float recorders that can handle kids squealing and adapters for phone and cameras.

My bag is a 4L Flow Satchel. The essence of choosing a bag is knowing what you want it to do for you. In my case, I want it to do two things: travel to see the grandkids, and while there carry the stuff we use to collect memories. #Alpaka

I talked to someone who had studied the philosophy of psychology. She said there was a big debate in those circles as to whether or not a “person” is defined as a collection of stories. And I thought it was crazy and wrong but after 10 seconds, I was like, yes of course. We are anthologies.

No expert, just a curious old man. US chocolate uses lipolysis to process the milk which produces butyric acid. Even UK brands owned by Mars use it in the US. The other thing you might check for in ingredients: sunflower oil or lecithin. My grandson reacts (FPIES) and it is in everything here.
