I think github.com/golang/go/is... would solve this. Give your fork its own module path, so `go install` works, and this issue would let a module replace target it still.

Quick Share is the only thing in this space that I'm aware of. It's Android and iOS only, but you can make it work on Linux computers too. I suppose this is the same tech used when you move all settings, apps, and files to a new Pixel device.

I'm starting to get comfortable with being more hands-off, but I also want an engineer who understands the project to prioritize and steer the work. It's not helpful when the PRs come at random. If they want to donate tokens, they could always sponsor the project, I guess.

Daniel Martí @handle.invalid · 27/07/2026
And I have nothing against AI use per se. But it's clear that all that these accounts are doing is use an AI plan to create as many PR fixes as possible, with no deep understanding, usage, or participation in each project. Not at all worth my time as a maintainer.

Daniel Martí @handle.invalid · 27/07/2026
I receive a handful of drive-by AI PRs per week. I've decided to start rejecting ones from accounts which seem to target issues across dozens of unrelated projects. I don't know if they're trying to pad their resume, or claim broad experience, but I'm not interested in participating.

I know it's not the biggest news of the day, but I just spotted this... One of Keir Starmer's last acts in Govt is this: Laying legislation that will legalise 'plug-in solar' (aka balcony solar) panels in Britain It means plug-in solar panels do not (legally) have to be wired in by an electrician.

I'm not looking to maintain any devices or runners, because that would be a nightmare for Mac and Windows. Plus, we need to scale with bursts of CI jobs. This is basically what we pay Namespace for.

GitHub Actions is down *again*. I can't do this anymore. What are people switching to? I need Linux+Mac+Windows support, GitHub or Gerrit integration, and all the usual: secrets, webhooks, logs, etc. For context, we already have scalable machines for all OSes via @namespacelabs.com.

This is a fun one: I just sent go.dev/cl/790740, which elides method wrappers for embedded types at offset zero, common for mixins/inherited data types. Doing this removes 60 _thousand_ method wrappers from tsgo's AST package, dropping the compilation of our main exe from 49s to 28s on my machine.
Benchmark 1: go build -a ./cmd/tsgo
  Time (mean ± σ): 48.992 s ± 0.274 s [User: 345.152 s, System: 12.545 s]
  Range (min … max): 48.702 s … 49.478 s 10 runs

Benchmark 2: ~/work/go/bin/go build -a ./cmd/tsgo
  Time (mean ± σ): 28.323 s ± 0.133 s [User: 141.277 s, System: 4.853 s]
  Range (min … max): 28.075 s … 28.555 s 10 runs

Summary
  ~/work/go/bin/go build -a ./cmd/tsgo ran
    1.73 ± 0.01 times faster than go build -a ./cmd/tsgo

Stared at my screen for a good while, not understanding why a git diff didn't git apply when it obviously should. Turns out Discord turns tabs into spaces when you send code snippets, even inside triple quotes 🙄 As a workaround, use git apply --ignore-whitespace.

Typing this as I'm failing to upload a patch to Gerrit; it hangs for minutes, then gives an internal error. Typically it "just" takes 10-20s. Please announce the moment you have anything akin to a Gerrit replacement but that actually works quickly and reliably.

We've barely touched the settings, so I wonder if the study was a bit conservative. It could also be that the outdoor unit is south facing, so it gets a lot of sunlight - that must help it somewhat.

It's about two and a half years since we installed a heat pump and disconnected gas in this house, so out of curiosity I went to look at our average efficiency over this time. The install study predicted about 350%, but we're actually averaging 425%!

Unlikely; I only see its use in a minority of Go projects. It's more of a harmless choice a project can make. Enforcing would also require some sort of language model for English to understand sentences, which feels too complex for a formatter.
