To be honest it does rather feel like that 🫣

For me the best moment of Endgame isn’t one of the big iconic moments but rather the much smaller scale and lowest of possible stakes taco scene. Pure comic book stuff. #filmsky

Saw Avengers Endgame Encore today, people may turn their noise up these days but it was such a great vibe, almost like the last gasp before everything turned to shit. Not sure the added footage is super essential for Doomsday but happy to have the chance to revisit this on the big screen. #filmsky

It’s become an extreme precedent show. Uncomfortably so at times.

Too many folks are hooked on the drama.

The Oscar noms post release really helped it to be discovered on home video imho.

Peter O’Toole being in a film with Ben Affleck feels wrong somhow, like someone is messing with the space-time continuum, 🙃

My first reaction on seeing this was hanging on isn’t that Mike from Neighbours?! 🫣

Queen at Sea - Binoche and Courtenay are terrific in this quietly powerful drama tackling some of the largely unspoken ethical and legal issues around sex and dementia. It’s largely sensitively handled but does have a few clunky moments. 8/10. #filmsky

Super Nature - an intimate exploration of humans relationship with nature through the use of global wide gathered Super 8 footage. While it doesn’t offer much in the way of new insights, it’s made with such tender loving care it really doesn’t matter much. 8/10. #filmsky

Bad for many sports that now have a limited audience. It was a real disaster for the commonwealth games recently for sure.

Kirsty Harris @muttley76.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

For clarity the only way the BBC could have outbid WBD was to pay more than the £920 million paid for the Europe wide coverage as there was no individual deal on the table for the UK alone. TBH an early sign of what was to come with WB taking over tv and media a chunk at a time.

Kirsty Harris @muttley76.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

This arrangement was recently renewed through to 2032.

100

Kirsty Harris @muttley76.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

WBD secured the rights in 2015 per the pan European deal, the BBC were able to reach a sub licensing agreement to keep limited free to air coverage. The point here is the IOC at that point struck one big deal for all of Europe. Norway as far as I know has the same arrangement.

That is correct. They showed what they were allowed to.

Back from a little trip to Bath, the feat of engineering behind the 2000 year old plus Sacred Spring at the Roman Baths , which can produce over a million litres of hot mineral water daily at a constant temperature of 46°C, is surely a definitive example of sustainability.

Yeah ultimately that side of things is kinda weak sauce especially since Kimble seemed pretty clueless about what was going on up to the point of the murder and his conviction.

I enjoy the heck out of this film, and was delighted it got TLJ his Oscar but to this day it bemuses me how what is really just a fairly standard, if well put together, drama thriller bagged a best picture nomination back when only 5 films got in.

I saw them reluctantly at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympics where they did an extended set and I have to grudgingly admit they were actually pretty terrific.

Reading he would have turned 56 really hit me in a way when you think of all the great films he would have made. His performance in Stand By Me is one of the most impressive I’ve ever seen. The milk money scene is just….wow. Such a raw and natural talent.

She’s entitled to her views of course but considering how much she is benefiting from the film financially it is a shame she can’t be a little bit more gracious about it all things considered.

Mark Jenkins is really interested in exploring socioeconomic decline of rural Britain, both of which one can argue were exacerbated by Brexit and Covid. Ironically as a whole fishing community’s were pro Brexit of course. But this film speak to the yearn for supposed better times of the past.

It’s such an interesting little film, quietly disturbing. Very much a post brexit post covid UK film thematically. George Mackay quietly goes about the business of being the best under the radar actor out there….

Spider Man: Brand New Day - enjoyable action sequences combine with some surprisingly touching exploration of themes around loneliness and isolation, underscored by the eclectic supporting players here. Bernthal is a real stand out. Less flash and bang than NWH but a lot more wallop. 9/10. #filmsky

Lady - this mockumentary style film about the titular Lady Isabella, a seemingly self entitled aristocrat starts out being very funny and ends up being very sad. Maybe tonally it doesn’t quite gel but Sian Clifford delivers a wonderfully rich performance that holds it all together. 8/10. #filmsky

For all the many faults of the UK press, when Dominic Cummings tried to ban selected journalists the whole lot of them walked out. The lack of solidarity among US media outlets is certainly part of the problem. More concerned with access than anything else. www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
