Looks like I made a ship with an anchor ⚓️. Mostly country roads, biked down Evanston Ave to Ravenna and to Coopersville for a coffee ☕️ stop and back on the Musketawa Trail. Training on country roads with hills for the Apple Cider Century later this month.

Anyone want to join me? I’ll be among the first cyclists to ride across the new Gordie Howe International Bridge when the multi-use path opens at 8:00 AM Wednesday, August 5. I’m diligent at inspecting and maintaining my bikes. Discovered the slit from earlier this year when I hit glass on the Musketawa has expanded and the steel is exposed. Ordered new tires for my Cannondale hybrid (gravel/road) bike. In the meantime having fun with my fixed gear this week. 🚲

Michigan nursing home therapy dog Waffles visits residents twice a week. Cat Debra decided she’s part of the program too—following him room to room and hopping onto beds. She isn’t certified or scheduled, but residents love her, and she only visits the ones who feed her.

Epic 46 mile ride from Muskegon (Marquette, Harvey) down the Musketawa trail to Maple Island road to Nunica down the North Bank Trail through Spring Lake and Ferrysburg up U.S. Bicycle Route 35 through Norton Shores and up the Muskegon Lakeshore Trail. I’m not anti-e-bike. I support more people using shared trails because that leads to more funding. E-bikes help many riders, especially those with disabilities, but most people can build the fitness to enjoy a regular bike with time and will be fitter and go farther for doing so.
