Great! The last time I searched none came up and I figured you’d know 😉 (Search is still admittedly a little tricky—“Maine” vs “ME,” etc.) Now I’m finding 8 who say Portland, and also more in surrounding towns plus simply Maine. Queuing up for next time my ears and mind are free.

Sharing that @subvert.fm hit 29k members (wow), I discovered that our current home page (subvert.fm) grid features my own album, "The future isn't what it used to be.", right there with @zoekeating.com's recent soundtrack, and a ton of other incredible artists. Well that's quite fun. #MusicSky

Just rediscovered an old video of me playing with an early prototype of my custom found-percussion sample library, back in Jan 2022. These are some of the same percussion sounds used raw, processed, and composited, throughout my recent debut album. #MusicSky #indiemusic #newmusic #portlandmaine

I'm quite looking forward to this new Fink record. 3 songs to hear so far and quite nice. Feels classic and not. I've been sensing more of Fink's influence on some of my own seldom-yet-heard songs. When ready, I'll love if they move someone like this does me. Any other Fink fans in my midst?

Yeah I mean, the intentionally lazy timing of the vocal delivery and the swung rhythm in the strumming are bound to compete for brain space. I've never tried it, though! Pure conjecture on my part 😆 For the belting/runs at the end, I'd surely prefer a straight-stand mic with hands free 😅

I'm glad I saw this. I haven't been keeping up with her for a while and this is cool so far. Really love the dark shifting harmonization behind the refrain on Shush. That bass movement is great, too.

Welcome news, indeed. Seems to me unlikely that Portland wouldn’t be better served by whatever supports existing, locally owned venues, with vested interest in our own community. And why is endless growth always the default? I thought Portland was the perfect size when I arrived in 2016.

Thanks @ncgbevilaqua.bsky.social! I love it; that’s the second time in a week that I’ve been introduced to some classic music that someone found mine reminiscent of. Fun trend! Two songs into Workbook, I’m hearing the acoustic/electric blend, and even some strings. Lots of instrumentation affinity.

@halfvivid.bsky.social (my fellow local in the @subvert.fm community) is making experimental folk music that feels to me like the whimsical score to an immersive-experience art installation. "The future isn't what it used to be." is a story of finding home only to lose it: hope, joy, patience, trust, uncertainty, disillusionment, and many colors of grief before healing. These songs aren't new; they're personal, yet distant like someone else’s story. Here's my 3min trailer from Feb.
