This is one of the maddest sci-fi books I ever read. He was a pal of Tolkien and CS Lewis, but didn't get any of their success. It's really, really good. Totally insane, almost like a mythical parable.

Radical acceptance is something I've been writing a ton about lately...

Most people think radical acceptance is soft.
Like you’re giving up.
Like you’re lying down and letting the pain win.

But real acceptance is brutal.
It’s the moment you stop waiting for someone to apologise.
Stop waiting for your old life to come back.
Stop arguing with the past like it’s still open to negotiation.

It doesn’t mean what happened was right.
It doesn’t mean you’re at peace.
It means you’re facing life with your eyes open.

No more fantasy.
No more what-if.
No more maybe-they’ll-change.

You look at what is — and you build from there.

Hardest thing in the world.
But it’s also the moment you stop bleeding out.
