I've been working with #A2UI recently, and I have mixed feelings. As an interface boundary, its great. In practice, it highlights how badly we need a standard protocol for talking to agents. - Using #A2A, a2ui content is signaled by mime type - otherwise, its just wrapped in <a2ui-json> tags 🤢

"agent" is ambiguous. I have seen it refer to different things recently, and I'm hoping we have better vocabulary for these soon 🫣 1. a local "off the shelf" agent like Claude code. 2. scratch built harness and tools, backed by a model (or configurable) what do you call these? have you tried #2?

I built a "write-only" AI agent to draft & queue social posts via the buffer.com remote MCP server—so I can share ideas consistently without getting trapped in "The Feed." Read the whole post: www.marcdougherty.com/2026/buildin... (yes, i still read comments myself!)

What makes an AI agent tick? I put together my own mental model of AI Agent Anatomy. Its a quick overview of how I think about the pieces, that helps me think about the individual value of each piece of the puzzle. Full breakdown: www.marcdougherty.com/2026/ai-agen... #AIAgents #AI

Before AI hit, the tech industry was focused on supply chain security. Now I'm hearing folks questioning the value of human review of AI generated code. I know it's a pendulum but I'm getting dizzy 😵‍💫

I wrote up my thoughts on a new pattern of AI Agent use i'm calling the "Chief of Staff" -- (www.marcdougherty.com/2026/ai-agen... ). In short, I talk to one agent, the chief of staff, who knows my preferences. They are responsible for interfacing with other agents to achieve my goals.

I've been thinking about the way we're "packaging" AI agent capabilities recently. We've seen MCP, CLIs, and Skills but they all require a lot of deep integration and/or configuration with one's own agent. What if "agent" is the right size package?

I came across this article recently titled "Just F$@(* Use Go" (blainsmith.com/articles/jus... ). The tone is a little aggro, but the author has some pretty good points 😄 - be boring, not clever. - concurrency doesnt have to be hard. - simple dependency management and deployment.

"Boring is good. Boring is stable. Boring means being able to focus on your work, not on what’s different about Go." (go.dev/blog/compat) IMO, this sentiment needs to be **louder** (see also boringtechnology.club ). Boring tech stays in the background, so you can work without reinventing wheels.

Go has a reputation for being great for API backends and CLI tools, but it gets used in many other ways. What's your most unusual/fringe use of Go? Some of my favorites are a company that uses Go to control satellites, and the Ebitengine game engine, which can build games for the Nintendo Switch!

Tired of updating Go dependencies, only to find that there's been an API change and now you need to find out which dependency is the problem? That's why I built github.com/muncus/go-de... - it uses Go's `apidiff` library to help you sort the "easy" dependency updates from the ones with API changes.

Are you tired of copying AGENTS.md files all over the place? Do you lose track of edits? (I do!) I built a tiny Go MCP server that embeds a directory full of prompts, so getting the latest version is just a `go install` away! I wrote about my approach here: www.marcdougherty.com/2026/managin...

Go dependency updates can be a hassle when the packages make API changes. I built a little prototype that uses `apidiff` to warn me about API changes in dependency updates, and wrote more about it here: www.marcdougherty.com/2025/go-depe... #golang

I balk at the phrase "10x", but I like this collection of Go patterns: blog.jetbrains.com/go/2025/10/1... I don't *completely* agree with #5 (wrap errors) - there's sometimes a good case for making errors opaque by not wrapping. Agree that looking at strings is definitely *not the way*. 🫠
