Murry Dickson was magnificent both on the mound & at bat. His single brought home the games first run. Thru 8 Dickson held the 55 Dodgers to 4 hits with 8 Ks. Brooklyn rallied with two on & nobody out in the 9th. Yet, Roy Campanella lined in to a 5-4-3 triple play ending a 2-0 win for 46 St.Louis.

Roy Campanella’s 2 run HR in the 1st put Brooklyn up early but it was Sandy Amoros who put the 61 Yankees away. HR’s by Del Ennis & Andy Seminick powered the 50 Phillies past the 05 Giants in the Strat Tourney, 3-1. Giants had their chances against winner Curt Simmons, Dan McGann lined into a triple play in the third. Then in the 9th Jim Konstanty got Willie Jones to start a 5-4-3 DP to end it for the save.

Defensive replacement Pat Duncan cost the 19 Reds in a 2-1 loss to 24 Washington. His two base error in LF put runners on 2nd & 3rd with no outs in the 8th. Earl McNeely then hit a catchable ball his way that fell for a 2 run double. Ossie Bluege turned a sparkling 5-3 DP in the 9th to end the game.

Group semifinal play continues in the Strat-O-Matic Decades tourney. In Group C 1970 Baltimore is the last hope for the 70’s as they travel to play the 1940 Reds in Cincinnati. Paul Derringer 20-12, 3.06 ERA goes for Cincy against the Orioles and Mike Cuellar 24-8, 3.48 ERA

In his second chance in as many at bats Tony Perez forced a tie game this time with a HR to make it 3 all heading to the 9th. There, Stan Musial tripled home Terry Moore with his 3rd hit of the day in the 46 Cardinals 4-3 win over the 75 Reds. Max Lanier went the final 2 with no hits for the win.

Bob Meusel fell a double shy of the cycle, scoring three times driving in 2 with flawless defense in left field as the 27 Yankees knocked off the 41 Dodgers 6-2. Herb Pennock blanked Brooklyn on 7 hits before tiring in the 9th to get the win. Yanks are in the Group A finals of the Strat tourney
