This might be a crazy take, but I personally think David Rittich is even a better goalie than Daws. Daws has been comfortably below the AHL league-average over the last 3 seasons. Just don't see it with him. That's why Poirier should get a look. #NJDevils

1110

Thought the #NJDevils' offensive game was fine. They created chances, but they hit the post a couple of times, and Sorokin was Sorokin. Bad defensive performance, and Daws didn't help matters. It's game 2 of 84. Onto the next one

290

Make no mistake. The #NJDevils haven't played well, but has not been a good performance for Nico Daws, either. Gotta think Remi Poirier gets a look at some point soon. Can't carry 3 goalies forever

It's only 2 games, but the power play has been, uh, rough to say the least. #NJDevils

Good news. Jack Hughes is back on the bench. #NJDevils

First goal wasn't on Daws, but gotta do a better job securing the puck on that one. #NJDevils

Nico Daws saved 0.96 goals above expected in the first period. Good start for him. #NJDevils

Lots of special teams time in that period, but feels like the #NJDevils are fortunate to get to the 1st intermission at 0-0

Great glove save by Nico Daws on that Schenn one-timer #NJDevils

Devils' 3-2 OT Win vs. Flyers: An Impressive Start on Opening Night

It may have taken overtime to secure the win, but the New Jersey Devils thoroughly outplayed the Flyers on opening night.

#NJDevils news: Per the team, Seamus Casey had knee surgery and is expected to miss 8-10 weeks. Tough blow again. He's really struggled with injuries in his pro career. Hope he's back sooner than expected.

Devils' 3-2 OT Win vs. Flyers: An Impressive Start on Opening Night

It may have taken overtime to secure the win, but the New Jersey Devils thoroughly outplayed the Flyers on opening night.

The #NJDevils with Luke Hughes on the ice tonight (5v5): - 29-6 advantage in shot attempts - 13-3 scoring chances - 4-0 high-danger chances - 81.68% of the expected goals - Game-tying goal in the 3rd What a way to start the season

1180

If this is what the #NJDevils are getting from Luke Hughes this season, watch out

1120

Jack Hughes calls game, and the #NJDevils win their season opener 3-2 in OT

3160

And why not some overtime to open the season. 2-2 game #NJDevils

090

Luke Hughes! He ties this one up off a great feed from Luke Evangelista. That's his 1st point as a Devil 2-2 #NJDevils

1180

How many times did the #NJDevils have 30 shots on goal thru 2 periods last season? Probably not many. Just need to find the finish...

080

The first goal of the #NJDevils' season belongs to Dougie Hamilton. Wicked wrister to tie it with 2 minutes left in the 2nd. 1-1 game.

180

The #NJDevils' process has been great so far. Just can't find one past Joseph Woll

With the NHL season beginning, my Metro predictions you didn't ask for: 1. CAR 2. WSH 3. NJD 4. PHI 5. NYR 6. PIT 7. CBJ 8. NYI 2-8 could go so many different ways. Real crapshoot in the Metro, but I've had a change of heart. Only seeing 3 playoff teams now

The New Jersey Devils today announced their roster submitted to the National Hockey League for the start of the 2026-27 NHL season. The club will have its season opener versus the Philadelphia Flyers ...

3110

On today's 32T, Elliotte Friedman says someone told him the Remi Poirier claim was pure Moneyball. "He was consistently above the AHL average SV%. That's a numbers bet, and he deserves a chance...Chance for it to be a real steal..." #NJDevils

150

Per Elliotte Friedman, everyone on waivers yesterday cleared today. That means David Rittich passes through waivers without being claimed. #NJDevils

190

Reminder: waivers at 2 pm today. Opening night rosters due at 5 pm today. We’ll see if the #NJDevils make any more waiver claims or have someone claimed on waivers shortly.

New Jersey Devils Show Plenty of Potential in 4-1 Rout of Islanders

You couldn’t have asked for much more from the New Jersey Devils in their preseason finale.

031

Overall, Poirier’s AHL numbers are quite good. Has improved every season. Might be something there. Worth a flyer #NJDevils

130

The #NJDevils have claimed goaltender Remi Poirier off waivers from the Stars. The 24-year-old posted a .912 SV% in 52 games with the Texas Stars of the AHL last season

New Jersey Devils Show Plenty of Potential in 4-1 Rout of Islanders

You couldn’t have asked for much more from the New Jersey Devils in their preseason finale.

031

And that's a wrap on the preseason. The #NJDevils close it out in style with a 4-1 win over the Isles. Exactly how you want to go into the regular season. Impressive performance by the Devils.

050

5v5 heat map for the first 2 periods. Been all #NJDevils. They've generated 1.48 xGs compared to just 0.35 for the Isles. They're allowing next to nothing and creating a ton of grade-A looks.

050

Sure, it's a preseason game, but that was a phenomenal 2nd period for the #NJDevils. Absolute hounds on the puck. Isles barely had the puck that period.

290

Dougie Hamilton gets in on the fun and gives the #NJDevils a 4-0 lead. Absolute dime of a cross-ice pass from Jonas Siegenthaler(!)

190

Great play by Luke Hughes to intercept a pass and break up what looked like was going be at least a 2v1. #NJDevils

020

Just seconds after Gritsyuk , Luke Evangelista tallies his 2nd of the night to give the #NJDevils a 3-0 lead.

130

Arseny Gritsyuk snipes one past Sorokin to give the #NJDevils a 2-0 lead. Think that was Rodrigues with a good pass through the NZ to Gritsyuk.

Arseny Gritsyuk getting a look on the #NJDevils' PK early on. Just had a good shot block and cleared the puck down the net

Alex Chauvancy @alexcthw.bsky.social · 25/09/2026

What a power play from the #NJDevils. All zone time, and Luke Evangelista buries one to give NJD a 1-0 lead.
