Some migration info from 7 Whinchats (Saxicola rubetra) tagged with multi-sensor loggers: kind of loop migration, spring Sahara crossing up to ~5,000 m despite their tiny size (~16g), and unusually prolonged flights both at autumn and spring. 🪶🏔️ Full paper here: doi.org/10.1007/s10336-026-02409-1

The taxonomy and identification of the Band-rumped Storm-petrel Hydrobates castro/monteiroi/jabejabe complex is very, well, complex, as are their previous occurrences in Britain.

Spotted a Barred Warbler with a metal ring near my hometown last month — just found out it was originally ringed in Israel. Amazing to think how far it’s traveled! You can read the full story on the BirdLife Israel website. www.birds.org.il/en/article/S...

Found this interesting looking Wagtail in a flock of ca. 60 White Wagtails today at Pareyer Luch, Eastern Germany. It showed a complete eye stripe on both side of head and looks quite promising to be an East Siberian Wagtail (ocularis).
