It just seems backwards to me. I have tools and equipment. I have storage for it. I work pretty much every day. Yet I still live in my truck. Storage got new cameras going so I can’t do that anymore. Not that it’s comfortable, but at least it was somewhat secure and I had some privacy.

The funny part is no one tried to contact me via email, text, or voicemail to let me know. After standing in line for an hour this morning, when I could have been working, to find this out, I was also informed that my status is a 5, and they are only sheltering 16-18.

Still in Austin. Went to the Homeless Navigation Center at Sunrise to check on my place in line for housing assistance. Apparently I missed a check up with them that I was unaware of to update my information and status. So I fell off the list.

I took yesterday off from work; self employed handyman. Worked the last six days at least ten hours each. Still a homeless Army Veteran. It’s not easy trying to save up enough to rent a house in Austin when you live in your truck and the woods.

Keeping healthy food in coolers, the ability to stay in one place for longer than a couple of days, or in a storage unit that know’s you’re there and doesn’t kick you out. I have a membership at a gym just for the restroom and showers mainly. I work out every day with my work.

The problems that most don’t understand about how to get out of this situation are as follows. No security, privacy, access to hot/cold water, pissing in an engine coolant jug, taking a dump in a bucket in the same space. Trying to save up 6-8k to move into a tiny apartment in Austin TX.

It’s not an easy deal being homeless even though I am considered a rich hobo. I have a truck; of which I will be changing out pretty much the whole front and rear end suspension myself tomorrow. I am self employed and make decent money. I have two storage units, one 10x20 for work and 10x10 for me.
