This weekend, I taught myself to draw fantasy maps! Skalterra is a realm that runs parallel to ours. Full of magicians and monsters, Skalterra can be described as a “gaslamp Hyrule” type world.

My husband doesn’t like when the sun comes through this little window and blinds him. This is his solution.

Having now done both, I’m realizing there’s a considerable amount of overlap between cheerleading and martial arts.

Can I brag about my cover artist for a moment? Maria is a personal friend, and being able to hire her for my books has been such a joy. Her cover for Beta was even a finalist in the SPFBO9 cover contest. What’s extra wild? These are her only book covers! She works in theme design!

Maria always does such an incredible job!

What if I dropped a cover reveal video at midnight my time and then went to bed?? (Maria Mondloch is the talented artist behind ALL my covers, and that’s Elizabeth Phillips back to narrate another one of my books!)

I’m going viral on TikTok and Threads for my mother in law’s dog and viral on Instagram because my husband watches yu-gi-oh while I write. But I don’t post on Bluesky ever, so I’m hiding out here while I take a breather.

What media helps pass the time for you when travelling? I like an audiobook myself. Currently listening to Delta by @mtzimny.bsky.social, and HIGHLY recommend 😁 #booksky #travel #audiobook

Promo codes do work without a subscription! If you’re willing to part with a US code, I’ll definitely get you on my list! It looks like a fun read!

One of my 2025 reading goals is to read 12 YA indie books in 12 months, which means I NEED RECS! They MUST be indie, and they MUST be YA. If they are accessible in Spotify or requestable in Libby, that’s a major bonus (I don’t have an audible subscription).

Does Bluesky like pictures? Here’s me being a ham with my books to mask the fact that I’m very nervous in this picture! It’s a bit unserious, but I think I like it! Anyway, this picture comes with a fun author-y backstory, but those details are secret right now.

It’s Human Voices Only Day so remember to hug your (human) narrators! Ai will never be able to send you a video of them cussing you out because your book made them sad. Anyway. Here’s Elizabeth Phillips doing exactly that to me. Strong language ahead 😅

My beige flag is that I can’t stop going to the Funko flagship store and making my characters into custom Funkos. Meet Andersen. He’s kinda a jerk.

“Oh, you’re an author? Anything I’ve read?” I assure you, the answer is no 😅

I genuinely have no idea how to find new friends here, and I’m panicking hahaha

As an author, I’m thrilled my toddler is currently obsessed with books. As a tired mom, I’m devastated that her bedtime routine is now a half-hour longer and full of demands of “more read!!”

020

M.T. Zimny @mtzimny.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

I think the hardest part of this is that it requires us to be honest with ourselves! I’m having to learn that just because something is valuable to me doesn’t mean it is going to be valuable to potential readers. I think I’ll staring asking myself “would I watch this if someone else posted it?”

M.T. Zimny @mtzimny.bsky.social · 18/11/2024

Okay, it’s been nearly a year, but I hear Bluesky is officially hopping, so HI HELLO! If you like books, golden retrievers, baking, mediocre karate skills, or lukewarm commentary on nerdy IP’s, let’s be pals.

Today’s character is Naomi! If you ask any reader of The Apex Cycle who their favorite character is, they’ll probably say this one. At first she seems like your standard mean girl crony, but Naomi reveals herself to be so much more.

Ok I’m doing it. Meet Samantha, a high school sophomore with no superpowers and a severe lack of decision making skills, but BOY does she know how to follow through. Her life is in shambles (what MC’s life isn’t?) and she’s ready to make it everyone’s problem. Read The Apex Cycle to meet her!

I’ve definitely considered trashing that copy for content before 😂 I call it my “stunt book” because I use it for all the promotional pics and adventures that might get it gross and it’s very ragged 😂

110

M.T. Zimny @mtzimny.bsky.social · 21/11/2023

I’m trying to figure out how I want to use Bluesky and I’m thinking a thread of character art might be fun? Even if it’s just an excuse for me to love on my characters?
