Matt Bliss @mttblss.uk · 15/10/2025People say AI is the future, well it looks like it lives there, our future is AI's past. I was just about to prepare any downloads for Friday's Umbraco 17 developer day so I Googled for info, and the AI overview is talking about it as if it has already happened, in two days time... #umbraco #ai 010

Matt Bliss @mttblss.uk · 24/03/2025Thanks @umbraco for fixing the invisible modal bug for Safari in v15.3.0. I’d keep forgetting and then have to switch to Chrome part way through working in the back office. My normal workflow in 15 has been restored, thanks! 000

Matt Bliss @mttblss.uk · 20/01/2025This is so cool! As a photographer their have been so many times I’ve been doing the lens change juggling act clamping a lens between my arm and body. As a wanna be astronaut, I’m just a little envious of the whole thing. #photography #space #nasa. news.sky.com/story/flatplan-13292245news.sky.comChanging camera lens in zero gravity on the International Space Station | Science, Climate & Tech News | Sky NewsIn orbit, there is no need to find a clean, flat surface to change a lens - all the components simply float in front of you. 020
Matt Bliss @mttblss.uk · 13/01/2025This week I wanted to move 1.5TB of data from an 8 year old NAS to a new SSD drive. Turns out it was quicker to download my online backup of the same data than it was to copy from the NAS by a factor of about 2.5. Data speeds, both disk and network, have changed enormously in that time! 010
Matt Bliss @mttblss.uk · 09/01/2025Dynamic ‘cropping’ of variable aspect-ratio banners, content managed in #umbraco… mattbliss.uk/articles/variable-aspe… @umb.fyi tipsmattbliss.ukMatt BlissBanners using a CSS background image are a common web design feature. Often the container for those banner images will vary in aspect-ratio depending on the device or browser window size they are viewed with. The image is, in effect, dynamically cropped to fill the container. How can we improve on this dynamic cropping? 110
