I think it’s pretty likely the person being quoted would agree that Americans’ lives are indeed forfeit because of US imperial misadventures, actually. They may be carving out an exception for those who bravely post to social media in opposition though. Or maybe they’re nihilist enough not to.

I was going to try to understand how she reconciles her view that being English requires a lineage extending back generations with the fact that her parents were born in Mauritius and Kenya but then I decided I'd rather not give myself moderate to severe brain damage

ID.4’s aren’t world beaters but there a ton coming off lease with mileage in the 20-30k range for $25k or less. Seems like a decent value.

Look, let's clear this up. LLMs can't think or understand because those are evolved capabilities of embodied living organisms embedded in the physical and social world and LLMs aren't that. Don't make it harder than it is.

People who have a hundred thousand followers on here really owe it to themselves and the community to resist getting baited by 139-follower randos. Not only is it super tacky, but 9 times out 10 it results in the smaller account getting dogpiled. Just bad all around. Block and move on!

In fact there were plenty of folks who correctly understood *at the time* that 1) the stated reasons for the war were nakedly pretextual and 2) the Bush administration was full of morons who were bound to fuck it up There were also plenty of folks who knew that and thought we should do it anyway.

Iraq War memory is pretty interesting bc - huge efforts at the time to make it seem like literally everyone supported it (they did not) - massive rush when it was ending to make it seem like everyone had always opposed it (they did not) - weird attempts now to say everyone supported it again

There’s another layer to the “not as elite” point - these schools were at rough parity a decade or two ago; if anything Northeastern was the laggard in prestige then. Interesting to consider the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that changes that perception.
