Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep: Final Mix - 10/10 a game that's so nice, you play it thrice. any nitpicks I have pale in comparison by how much I wish it was longer. starting out fresh the first time was overwhelming with how many systems it throws at you, but by the second / third time it's old hat

If you already know, then you know. The worst part about this game is when you start over and you don’t have any of your slick movement abilities yet, twice. Although having some experience down already to jump into command melding for your best gear is a GREAT feeling, what a good way to immediately have more control of your setup instead of starting with nothing every time. And the restarts are mitigated further by the game NOT being the same areas in the same order with the same cutscenes, which I was fully expecting until starting Ventus’ story. Wow! The game does go on to unlock a timeline feature once you complete it, so you can see where/when each character interacted with which world, a nice touch.

My main gripe with this game, which has several fully-developed minigames (and one half-developed one, what even is this Kart racing nonsense), is that it feels short. Looking at my playtime, clearly it isn’t short to do everything, but part of this is just the nature of the game splitting up three ways (the playtime was almost totally evenly divided since I did everything with everyone), and part of it is that this game is actually pretty short, all that side content and filling out your command list and playing the board game adds up, unless you skip it. Blue-Cheese Steak and Endive Salad friendship ended with chocolate, blue cheese compound butter is my new best friend
Blue-Cheese Steak and Endive Salad for Two

INGREDIENTS

For the Steak

4 tablespoons unsalted butter, slightly softened

2 tablespoons good-quality blue cheese, such as Roquefort, Stilton or Gorgonzola

1 tablespoon finely chopped shallot 3/4 to 1 pound hanger or skirt steak, at room temperature

Kosher salt and black pepper

1 tablespoon canola or grapeseed oil

Flaky salt (optional)

For the Salad

2 Belgian endives, leaves separated

4 to 5 thinly sliced radishes, a variety of colors if you can find them

1/2 small fennel bulb, cored and thinly sliced (about 1/3 cup)

2 tablespoons good quality white-wine vinegar

½ teaspoon orange zest

1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon olive oil 1/4 cup Italian parsley leaves, torn

1 tablespoon chives, cut on an angle into ½-inch pieces

1 Tablespoon roughly chopped tarragon

PREPARATION

STEP 1 In a small bowl, stir together butter, blue cheese and shallot, and set aside.

STEP 2 Season steaks well with salt and pepper on both sides and set aside.

STEP 3 Meanwhile, assemble your salad: In a large bowl, gently toss together the endive leaves, radishes and fennel. In a small bowl, whisk together the white-wine vinegar, orange zest, olive oil, parsley leaves, chives and tarragon, season to taste with salt and pepper and set aside.

STEP 4 Heat a large cast-iron pan over medium-high heat until very hot, 2 to 3 minutes. Add the canola oil. When it shimmers, add the hanger steak and let it cook, undisturbed, until it begins to crisp and brown on one side, 3 to 4 minutes. Flip and finish cooking about 3 minutes more or until a meat thermometer inserted in the thickest part reads 130 degrees for medium-rare.

STEP 5 Move the steak to a cutting board, and spread with 2 tablespoons or so of the blue cheese butter and let rest 5 to 7 minutes. Slice steaks against the grain and finish with flaky salt, if desired. Plate the steak and serve with the salad alongside, spooning the dressing on top of the salad.

Skillet Ginger Chicken With Apricots dried apricots are harder to find than apricot preserves, which work. according to the Internet Archive, this recipe is not very popular, and most comments are about adding spice - if your ginger is fresh, that should be enough! next time I'll serve it over orzo
a bowl of chunked chicken with onions and shredded mint leaves in a bowl of apricot wineSkillet Ginger Chicken With Apricots

INGREDIENTS

1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon grated or minced (unpeeled) fresh ginger

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

Kosher salt

1½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 2-inch pieces

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 small red onion, halved and thinly sliced

1 cup dried apricots, halved

3/4 cup white wine

2 to 3 packed cups baby spinach

2 packed tablespoons fresh mint or cilantro leaves

PREPARATION

STEP 1 In a medium bowl, combine 1 tablespoon of ginger with the cumin, coriander and 1 teaspoon salt. Pat the chicken dry, then add to the bowl and toss to coat with the mixture.

STEP 2 Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high until shimmering. Add the onion, season with salt, and cook, stirring occasionally, until just softened in texture and color, 3 to 4 minutes. Push the onion slices to the sides of the skillet, then add the chicken so that each piece has contact with the pan. (It's OK if it's crowded.) Cook, undisturbed, until the bottom is browned and releases easily from the skillet, 7 to 8 minutes more. Use tongs to flip the chicken and scatter the apricots around the skillet.

STEP 3 Cook until the other side of the chicken is no longer pink, about 2 minutes. Pour in the wine and remaining teaspoon of ginger. Use a spatula or wooden spoon to stir and scrape up anything on the bottom of the pan. Continue to stir to coat everything in the liquid until it's mostly absorbed with a little pooling at the bottom, the chicken is cooked through and the apricots softened, about 3 minutes more.

STEP 4 Add the spinach, mixing until wilted, about 2 minutes more. Season to taste with salt. Sprinkle with mint and serve.

Cauliflower Salad Sandwiches I didn't know what to expect from this, other than the idea sounded good. I would change the name to Cauliflower Curry Sandwiches, because that's really what you're making - they're vegan and delicious, with a lot of good complementary textures and flavors that hit
one closed and one open cauliflower salad sandwichinterior of sandwichCauliflower Salad Sandwiches

INGREDIENTS

1 large head cauliflower (about 2 pounds), cored, halved and cut into 1-inch slices

6 tablespoons neutral oil

5 teaspoons curry powder

Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper

4 ounces raw walnuts, roughly chopped

1 tart, crisp apple, cored and chopped into 2-inch pieces

1 lemon, zested and juiced, plus more to taste

½ cup mayonnaise

½ cup strained yogurt

½ cup raisins

½ cup cilantro leaves and tender stems, roughly chopped

1/2 cup parsley leaves, roughly chopped

4 hoagie rolls, split lengthwise

PREPARATION

STEP 1 Place a large, rimmed baking sheet on the middle rack of the oven and heat the oven to 450 degrees.

STEP 2 In a large bowl, toss the cauliflower with 3 tablespoons of oil, 2 teaspoons curry powder and a large pinch of salt. Massage the cauliflower to separate it into individual florets and coat it evenly in oil. Carefully spread onto the hot baking sheet and roast until cooked through and charred in spots, about 20 minutes. Turn the broiler on high and cook until cauliflower is deep brown and charred, 3 to 5 minutes.

STEP 3 While the cauliflower roasts, toast the walnuts: In a small skillet over medium heat, add the remaining 3 tablespoons oil, the walnuts and a pinch of salt, and cook, frequently stirring, until lightly toasted, 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in the remaining 3 teaspoons curry powder, turn off the heat and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.

STEP 4 In a large bowl, stir together the apple, lemon zest and juice, and a large pinch of salt. Add the mayonnaise, yogurt, raisins, cilantro, parsley and the walnut mixture, taking care to scrape in all of the oil and curry, and stir to combine.

STEP 5 Add the cauliflower and toss until well combined; season with salt to taste. (The cauliflower salad will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days.)

STEP 6 Divide the cauliflower salad among the rolls and press firmly to close.

Ginger-Dill Salmon this is SO good. I subbed in cucumbers for the radishes because they're easier to source and serve as the same textural element. please be aware that when it says 6 Tablespoons of dill, they mean FRESH, if you are using DRIED then cut that to 6 teaspoons or you'll die a pickle
salmon next to citrus salad and a sliced avocadotop view of plateGinger-Dill Salmon

INGREDIENTS

1 (1½-pound) salmon fillet, skin-on or skinless

Kosher salt and black pepper

6 tablespoons finely chopped dill

1 (2-inch) piece ginger, scrubbed and finely grated (no need to peel)

2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving

1 grapefruit

2 oranges

6 small radishes, cut into thin wedges

1 avocado

Flaky sea salt, for finishing (optional)

PREPARATION

STEP 1 Heat oven to 325 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper. Pat the salmon dry, then place on the tray skin-side down (if there is skin) and season with salt and pepper.

STEP 2 In a medium bowl, stir together the dill, ginger and olive oil until combined. Season with salt and pepper. Spread half of the dill-ginger mixture over the top of the salmon. (Reserve the remaining dill-ginger mixture.) Bake until cooked through, 15 to 20 minutes. (You'll know the salmon is done when the fish flakes or an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part is 120 degrees.)

STEP 3 As the salmon cooks, cut off the top and bottom of the grapefruit and set the grapefruit down on one of the cut sides. Follow the curve of the fruit to cut away the peel and pith. Squeeze the peels into the remaining dill-ginger mixture to get out any juice. Cut the fruit in half from top to bottom, then slice into 1/4-inch-thick half-moons and remove the seeds. If your pieces are especially large, halve them again. Transfer the fruit and any juice on the cutting board to the bowl. Repeat with the oranges. Add the radishes, season generously with salt, and stir gently to combine.

STEP 4 Break the salmon into large pieces, and divide across plates with the citrus salad. Peel and pit the avocado, then quarter lengthwise and add to plates. Season with salt. Spoon the juices from the bowl over top, and season with black pepper, another drizzle of olive oil, and flaky sea salt, if using.

Maple and Miso Sheet-Pan Salmon With Green Beans Miso Salmon was the first kind of fish I ordered somewhere that made me realize fish could be good. this has a great balance of savory and sweet and sour flavors to it, although admittedly there's not much that can be done to help green beans
Maple and Miso Sheet-Pan Salmon With Green Beans

INGREDIENTS

4 (6-ounce) skin-on salmon fillets, about 1-inch thick

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

4 teaspoons maple syrup

1 tablespoon white or brown miso

1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar

2 teaspoons soy sauce

1 garlic clove, grated

1 pound green beans, trimmed

2 tablespoons olive oil

Pinch of red-pepper flakes (optional)

1/4 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (optional)

½ cup roughly chopped cilantro, both leaves and tender stems

4 lime wedges, for serving

Flaky sea salt, for serving (optional)

Cooked white rice, for serving (optional)

PREPARATION

STEP 1 Heat oven to 400 degrees and line a sheet pan with parchment paper or foil. Season the salmon fillets well with salt and pepper, and place them on a plate or in a large shallow bowl.

STEP 2 In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, miso, rice wine vinegar, soy sauce and garlic. Pour the mixture on top of the salmon and gently massage the marinade all over the fish. Let marinate while the oven comes to temperature.

STEP 3 Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, toss together the green beans with the olive oil, red-pepper flakes and sesame oil (if using) and season generously with salt and pepper. Lay the salmon fillets on the sheet pan skin side down and spread the green beans out surrounding the fillets.

STEP 4 Arrange the salmon skin side down on the sheet pan and bake until the salmon is opaque and the green beans are cooked through, about 12 minutes. Right before serving, scatter with cilantro and a good squeeze of lime. Season with flaky sea salt and serve with rice, if desired.

One-Pot Roasted Squash Soup squash are definitely not in season yet, but we found two small pumpkins at the grocery store (the Italians were telling us "'alloween! 'alloween!") this is another easy one pot meal, and it makes a LOT! soup for my family
a bowl of pumpkin soup with some olive oil drizzled on topbig sauce pan fulla pumpkinfreshly blended soupOne-Pot Roasted Squash Soup

INGREDIENTS

2 kabocha or kuri squash (3 ½ to 4 ½ pounds total), skin on and quartered, seeds, pulp and hard stems discarded

1 large yellow or white onion (about 12 ounces), peeled and thinly sliced

1 large or 2 medium carrots (about 8 ounces), peeled and roughly chopped

4 coin-size slices of fresh, peeled ginger

2 apples or pears, cored and roughly chopped

A few sprigs of fresh thyme or rosemary (optional)

6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil, plus more for serving

Salt and black pepper

6 cups homemade or store-bought stock, or water, plus more as desired

2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional)

Juice of ½ lemon or ½ orange

PREPARATION

STEP 1 Adjust an oven rack to the lower-middle position and heat the oven to 375 degrees. Combine the squash, onion, carrot, ginger, apples, herbs (if using) and olive oil in a large Dutch oven or large, ovenproof saucepan. Season with salt and pepper, and toss to combine.

STEP 2 Place the pot in the oven, uncovered, and roast until the squash shows no resistance when poked with a paring knife or cake tester, 1 to 12 hours.

STEP 3 Transfer the pot to the stovetop, and discard any woody herb stems (if using). Add the stock or water, and place over a burner set to medium-low heat. Stir with a wooden spoon to scrape up any bits stuck to the bottom of the pot. Using an immersion blender, blend the soup until it's as smooth as you like. (You can also transfer to a standing blender or food processor in batches if you prefer.)

STEP 4 Stir in the maple syrup (if using) and citrus juice. Adjust the consistency with more water or stock if desired. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve with a drizzle of olive oil and freshly ground black pepper.

I’ve never made it through a PMD before, although I’ve tried multiple times. The problem is that the game takes place in two (maybe three) incredibly distinct parts.

The first one is the story, where you are largely railroaded for a long time, and given very few choices to impact your gameplay. If your favorite preferred pokemon isn’t one of the game’s starters, too bad! Maybe you’ll get them soon, maybe you’ll have to scour for a long time. Good luck! The storyline has a couple of interesting chapters, but after some good subplots it then snowballs downhill into a horrible mishmash of tropes ripped 100% directly from the Mother series and Advent Children. It gets terrifically stupid. The ending itself has a very strange vibe, with your starter lying prone and sobbing during the entire credits. This is not a joke. The immediate postgame involves resolving your existential crisis, but… not the main character’s initial problem? Which remains a mystery? dungeon

[...] My sense of accomplishment at getting something is somewhat marred by it then proceeding to unlock a 41-floor dungeon that it wants me to do next. Really? There’s a difference between providing challenge and just padding game time.

I liked it, I don’t think I could do another one anytime remotely soon. The plot was really bad, the gameplay finally got really good afterwards, and then petered out at the conclusion. On the other hand, it was a Pokemon game that I reached the conclusion of in the first place, and you wind up with essentially a living dex without having to trade or do timed events, soGastrodon: My wife has a squishy body. Air Fryer Salmon the fishmonger in town tends to cut salmon crosswise like this, rather than the fillets from the side with the larger piece of skin, but it cooks up the same. rather than crisping up, the skin melts and is delicious. easy prep and only one pan!
a salmon steak on rice with some sliced tomatoesAir-Fryer Salmon

INGREDIENTS

2 (6-ounce) salmon fillets (if using frozen, see Tip), either skin-on or skinless

Olive oil, as needed

Salt and pepper

1 lemon and 1 cup cherry tomatoes (optional)

PREPARATION

STEP 1 Heat air fryer to 400 degrees, if preheating is recommended for your air fryer.

STEP 2 Pat salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush olive oil all over salmon; season with salt and pepper. If using lemon and cherry tomatoes, thinly slice half the lemon crosswise; set the remaining lemon half aside. In a small bowl, add the cherry tomatoes, lemon slices and 1 tablespoon olive oil. Season with salt and toss to combine.

STEP 3 Place salmon fillets in the air fryer basket, skin-side down. Top with lemon slices and scatter tomatoes around the basket. Cook until salmon skin is crisped and lightly browned, 5 to 7 minutes. Flip the fillets and cook for another 4 to 6 minutes until salmon is cooked through and flakes evenly. Sheet-Pan Chicken With Artichokes and Herbs super easy. everything comes together on one pan and cooks all together. the fennel mellows out as it cooks, which is good since it is essentially the main ingredient. we used our own fresh sage and rosemary from the garden 😋

INGREDIENTS

3 large fennel bulbs (about 3 pounds), trimmed, halved lengthwise and cut into 1/2-inch-thick wedges

2 (14-ounce) cans whole artichoke hearts in water, drained and halved lengthwise

8 ounces cherry tomatoes

6 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil

Kosher salt (such as Diamond Crystal) and black pepper

2 tablespoons minced garlic

2 tablespoons ground fennel

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh rosemary

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh sage

8 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs (about 3 pounds)

1/2 cup pitted green olives, chopped

2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1 teaspoon red-pepper flakes (optional)

PREPARATION

STEP 1 Heat oven to 425 degrees. On a rimmed baking sheet, combine fennel wedges, artichokes, tomatoes and 3 tablespoons oil. Season with salt and pepper and toss to evenly coat. Spread in an even layer.

STEP 2 In a small bowl, combine garlic, ground fennel, rosemary, sage and the remaining 3 tablespoons oil. Season chicken all over with salt and pepper, then rub with spice mixture. Arrange the chicken on top of the vegetables skin-side up. 16

STEP 3 Roast until vegetables are tender and chicken is golden and crisp and cooked through, 35 to 40 minutes.

STEP 4 Divide chicken and vegetables among plates. Pour pan juices into a small bowl, let settle and then skim off the fat with a spoon. Stir in olives, lemon juice and red-pepper flakes (if using). Spoon sauce over chicken and vegetables. Serve warm.

hmm. this might work, last time I got vertigo it was really bad and I could see my eyes shaking back and forth. this takes a few minutes per side, but it will move any inner ear crystals where they should go so they stop messing with your balance, if that's the cause
Epley Maneuver poster. with head turned, lie back so that your head remains turned and hangs down over the edge of the recumbent surface at around a 45 degree angle. wait 30 seconds, then turn to the other side, still at 45 degrees lower than the surface, for 30 seconds. then turn further in that direction, onto your side, facing the floor at 45 degrees, for 30 seconds, before slowly sitting up.

we are so back STEAK DIANE a little retro but a tasty classic. I couldn't get the alcohol to flare, so it just boiled off for a while, and I don't think Italian boxed cream has the same texture, but it tastes really good and the onions came out sweet

INGREDIENTS

Salt and freshly ground black pepper

1 (12-to 16-ounce) boneless steak, such as filet mignon or strip steak, about 1-inch thick

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1 tablespoon neutral oil, such as grapeseed or safflower

2 tablespoons minced shallot or red onion

1 teaspoon tomato paste

2 tablespoons Cognac or brandy

¼ cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

½ teaspoon fish sauce (optional)

Minced chives or parsley, for garnish

PREPARATION

STEP 1 Sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides of the steak and set aside at room temperature for 15 to 30 minutes.

STEP 2 Melt the butter and heat the oil in a large skillet set over medium-high. Pat the steak dry with a paper towel. Increase the heat to high, add the steak to the pan and sear until well browned, about 2 minutes. Turn and sear on the other side and cook until done to taste, 1 to 4 minutes longer. If your steak is thick enough, insert an instant-read thermometer in the center to test the temperature: Rare is 125 degrees; medium rare is 135 degrees; medium is 145 degrees.

When the steak is done, move it to a cutting board and tent with an overturned bowl or foil to keep warm.

STEP 3 Add shallot to the pan and sauté until golden, 2 to 3 minutes on medium-high heat, stirring once or twice. Stir in the tomato paste, mixing well and letting it deepen in color, about 1 minute.

STEP 4 Turn off the heat and add the Cognac to deglaze the pan. Using a long match or stick lighter, set the Cognac on fire, standing back and taking care. Let the flames burn out, then turn the heat to medium-high and cook until the Cognac is almost evaporated, 1 to 2 minutes.

STEP 5 Stir in the cream, mustard, Worcestershire and fish sauce, if using, and cook until thickened, about 1 to 2 minutes. Drizzle the warm sauce over the steak-you can slice beforehand if you wish-and garnish with black pepper and herbs.
