Big news from Labour Conference: the PM has announced the government's plan to scrap first past the post. Seats that match votes would change British politics for good, but only if it happens. I've added my name. Join me? action.electoral-reform.org.uk/page/201578/...

The PM used his big speech to promise to fix Westminster's broken voting system.
We've heard promises before. I've signed to make sure this one is kept. It takes 30 seconds

The most disgusting behaviour I’ve ever witnessed in public spaces was directed at Sadiq Khan by ‘anti-Ulez’ protesters, who of course received way more coverage, much of it friendly, than the scheme’s incredible success ever will.

So much more good and important news coming from our Labour government today. But I've worked a very long day today (been at my desk almost non-stop since before 8:30am), so am doing a short summary of key events! 1) The PM meets mayors in drive to get Britain building and take on blockers!

Further evidence the net zero economy is one of the few parts of the economy that is booming. Truly insane that now is the time politicians start attacking one of the only sources of growth for UK businesses. www.businessgreen.com/news/4530440...

Torsten Bell work & pensions minister was excellent on BBC this AM. The problem isn't Labour cant communicate - they can't be on tv 24/7. The problem is the media reporting. I didn't know till today NO NI is paid on employees under 21 or apprentices under 25. Yet everyday employers complain 1/2

⬇️ Economy down £240bn. ⬇️ Investment down 18%. ⬇️ 4000 fewer doctors in the NHS. ⬇️ £90bn less in tax revenue. 💰 All so he could pocket a few quid. He doesn't care about the working class, he is taking the country for a mug.

A huge announcement in the King's Speech - what a pity it’s getting little media attention due to all the reporting on a possible leadership challenge. The government have pledged to introduce a new bill to abolish right-to-buy for new social homes.

Subsidising energy consumption in the face of both a short-term supply shock and the long-term need to decarbonise. Bad for the economy, bad for the planet, bad for the world's poor. And *if* you favour a wealth tax (I am sceptical but there's a case) spending it on *this" is just idiotic.

Four excellent pieces of good news today about government borrowing and the budget decifit. All show huge improvements on previous years! Well done Labour. 1. Borrowing in March 2026 was £12.6bn - down £1.4bn from borrowing in March 2025. 1/3

A reminder, the security services advised Theresa May Johnson was a security risk before she appointed him Foreign Secretary, they advised against giving Lebedev a peerage, he got one, Johnson misled (lied to you and me) about what he knew about Pincher when he made him Deputy Chief Whip.

The deputy leader of Reform UK, Richard Tice, owns a property company - Quidnet REIT. From 2020 to 2022 it paid Tice and his trust £600k in dividends. Quidnet should have paid £120k of tax on those dividends. It didn't. A 🧵 with evidence from the company's own filings:
