Great EP by Deafheaven just released. “The Hunter” closed their Chicago set. “Sorry Laid the Hearth” is even better. music.apple.com/us/album/at-...

The Flaming Lips were the best live band around until they started playing larger venues and festivals with all the props and theatrics that distracted from the music.

Alaska Airlines has done that announcement number of times over the years and passengers do their part.

Sugar at the Masonic Temple (Jack White Theatre) in Detroit. Beautiful space. Great show. Hard to believe it was 32 years ago I last saw them.

Went to store once. Cookie was not very good IMO. Prefer the warm chocolate chip cookie at Costco.

Gotta love Jason Isbell playing again with the Drive by Truckers, even if only for a night. Wish I was there to see it live. youtu.be/73tAy9yR-4Q

Mastodon last night at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago. John Baizley of Baroness has been joining them for the last third of the set doing a lot of Brent Hinds vocals. Deafheaven was great. Alcest was fantastic and got huge cheers as the first band of the evening. Great night of music.

Big cruise ship on Lake Michigan early this morning just north of Navy Pier. Saw ship goers on a walking tour on Michigan Ave. later in the morning. Hope they enjoyed their stay.

Well written….and because a lot of financing is buried within off-balance sheet “special purpose vehicles” and “variable interest entities”, if the s*** hits the fan, which investors and company balance sheets take the hit? I’ll go back to listening to Mastodon now.

Watched No One’s Disciple tonight. It was excellent. Watching some amazing drummers trying to keep up with Neil Peart’s music was awesome to see. Don’t have to be a fan of Rush to appreciate to his genius.

That’s an easy one. Yo La Tengo’s “You Can Have It All”. I never play this song voluntarily. But when they play live and the band is singing and dancing in unison, it’s the best!! music.apple.com/us/album/you...

Champaign/Urbana and the University of Illinois. It is a great school as well for engineering, business, computer science, agriculture, etc. Seen some great shows in that town. Hum, Flaming Lips, Jesus Lizard, Pallbearer, Son Volt.

Two books to recommend. “These Are The Plunderers” by Gretchen Morgenson “Financial Shenanigans” by Howard Schilit. (There are multiple editions but I read the first one).

Since data center companies are massive free cash flow burners, I think there is strong incentive to apply duct tape wherever necessary to get the facilities up and operating.

Nice! I have not seen either unfortunately………Back then I was in the crush up front. Now I stand in the back and people my kid’s age (including one of mine) have taken my place up front.

100% agree here. It is a shame. One of the best concerts I ever attended was this one. It was crazy because you knew the album/band was going to be huge, but clearly they were not yet. youtu.be/QSNSvPPKWiQ

Snocaps album is fantastic. Caught one of their few concerts last year in Chicago. Also recommend Plains, another Katie Crutchfield album outside Waxahatchee. Listened to the Plains album last night in fact.

Don’t worry, another round of financing will get those problems solved if the valuation is higher than the last round…….
