Sugar at the Masonic Temple (Jack White Theatre) in Detroit. Beautiful space. Great show. Hard to believe it was 32 years ago I last saw them.

Gotta love Jason Isbell playing again with the Drive by Truckers, even if only for a night. Wish I was there to see it live. youtu.be/73tAy9yR-4Q

Mastodon last night at the Riviera Theatre in Chicago. John Baizley of Baroness has been joining them for the last third of the set doing a lot of Brent Hinds vocals. Deafheaven was great. Alcest was fantastic and got huge cheers as the first band of the evening. Great night of music.

Big cruise ship on Lake Michigan early this morning just north of Navy Pier. Saw ship goers on a walking tour on Michigan Ave. later in the morning. Hope they enjoyed their stay.

Two books to recommend. “These Are The Plunderers” by Gretchen Morgenson “Financial Shenanigans” by Howard Schilit. (There are multiple editions but I read the first one).

I am not seeing Sugar until Detroit. There is a reason why Bob Mould’s name is with Prince’s outside on the walls of First Avenue in Minneapolis. Happy for Sugar’s return there tonight.

Anyone going to see Mastodon on tour this fall would be wise to catch the opening act Deafheaven. First saw them at the High Noon Saloon in Madison, WI back in 2014. See them a few times since including a packed club in London. music.apple.com/us/album/the...

Just found out Jimbo Hart has been playing bass in Jason Newsted and the Chophouse Band. Hart was for years the amazing bass player with Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. And Newsted played bass in this little band called Metallica. Awesome………

For Mastodon fans, they put out a video about their relationship with Brent. It was heartbreaking to watch but grateful they put it out. Having attended the concert in Palmer, AK (and seen them maybe 6-7 times before that), I have no idea how they pulled that show off. youtu.be/Ba4fW0mXh_w
