Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Good for you. As my handle was "Shoebox", I reached out to Hallmark greeting cards and offered to give them my account so I could be fully done with it without worrying about anyone ever picking it up. Worked fine, but buncha people worried I was dead for a minute. 030
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Amazing I'm collaborating on a thing with a high school Latin teacher atm (locks of the ancient world) and was delighted to see she had titled the project "Let's Lock In!" I'm sure her students are similarly embarrassed, but ego death is good for the soul :) 110
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Ooo yes, great show, and may I recommend these few episodes of the incredible podcast Gayest Episode Ever: www.gayestepisodeever.com/episodes/tag...gayestepisodeever.comdesigning women — Episodes — Gayest Episode Ever 000
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 03/10/2026We had a recurring thin column buried in our local newspaper with that constant headline. The rhyme was enough for me to read the names and single sentence descriptions of the individuals turning 40 each week even though I was, myself, still in single digits 011
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Love you both, parasocial as that may be, the two of you made something truly incredible. Thank you for every single episode. 010
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Not only that, but early hacker (& personal hero), René Carmille, reprogrammed those fuckers computers & saved thousands of lives. History let's us see patterns, know why things are, & sometimes find our role models. I had the pleasure of talking about him on Mysteries at the Museum years ago: 010
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Appreciate the reality check. I remember being AMAZED by the very early shadowy shapes from fMRI "reading" a while ago. 030
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 01/10/2026This is how I feel about the tentative method in lockpicking First described in the 1770s, it eventually overtakes every attempt to protect against it. Locks invented hundreds of years later fall to it. Just takes the right person designing the right tool to carry out the method on the new lock. 040
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 01/10/2026I think you should go for it. 1: I've enjoyed the handful of times we've chatted on here 2: People with burdens are often less burdensome to other people with burdens. Sure, a chance you wind up drowning in each other's problems, but more likely you commiserate & contextualize. Both very helpful. 000
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 28/09/2026I hope I get to do the things I love & am good at a little more than I do now. I'm finding it hard to go from flexing 20 years of expertise for one hard but wonderful weekend (teaching lock stuff last week) back to feeling barely competent at a job I'm happy to have but struggling to enjoy. 040
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Ross: And Duncan's horses — a thing most strange and certain — Beauteous and swift, the minions of their race, Turned wild in nature, broke their stalls, flung out, Contending 'gainst obedience, as they would make war with mankind. Old Man: tis said they ate each other Ross: Fuuuuuuuuuck 020
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 27/09/2026That protect trans youth shirt is the comfiest I've owned in ages, so normally I'd say that, but the abolish ice is so on theme 110
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 26/09/2026The number of things I've learned about myself from filling out what I expected to be boring surveys is wild. Still happening at 42. So hard to know what normal is when your data set on any given life experience has an N of 1, you know? 030

Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 24/09/2026My answer was typically "you are a moody late teen reaching deeper into the 4AD catalogue than you likely want" But I still stared at the ceiling often enough thinking my big thoughts while "the serpents egg" rolled along in the background. 120
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 23/09/2026I do hope some of y'all listen to bbno$ (baby no money) The music is so good and the musician is wonderfully unproblematic. 222
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 22/09/2026As angry as I get scrolling, I also feel such real and deep love for y'all. At least we are here together. ♡ 080

Stanford researchers: “We’ve shown for the first time that the front of the brain arises from a totally different progenitor cell than the back of the brain” 0335
Schuyler @mrtowne.bsky.social · 21/09/2026Ditto, was, in fact, revisiting that childhood treat when sick once, and forgot to return the butter dish to the cabinet from where I had been preparing and eating my sugar bread. I have not heard the end of my wife finding the entire butter dish in the bed when she got home :P 030
