Tap shoes that connect directly to Suno to use AI to generate songs based on your foot tapping and automatically play them through built in speakers. The only way to turn it off is to stop paying the subscription fee

I knew a guy with a PhD in archaeology. To hear him tell it, the job market for archaeologists doesn't support the number of people going to school for it, so it winds up funneling a lot of people into the archaeology professor career path.

Copy at least a few words from the post, search it, sort by latest. The user usually comes up in the first couple results.

Did you read the entire headline? Because the part of the sentence leading up to that makes it clear that what he said was wrong.

At least for me, part of it is that I use the feed for users I follow almost exclusively. There's not an algorithm shoehorning suggested content and ads into it.

Jesus would have been able to get his message out much more effectively of his execution was livestreamed

They should also remember that Jesus himself was publicly executed, and at least according to the gospels, it was a source of entertainment for some of the Romans in attendance.

I will say, just in my experience as a casual AI user, instances where it directly ignores or disobeys commands I put in the prompt happens so frequently that it's a major factor in what I'm willing to use it for. I do, however, blame a lack of guard rails hard coded into the model for this stuff.

Except that it hasn't become a societal expectation that people carry machines capable of dispensing liquor on demand.

To be fair I don't think the study itself is bad. I think they just wanted to establish that AI induced cognitive atrophy can happen under ideal conditions and establish a baseline for it, then subsequent studies can introduce variables to get a better idea of how it affects people in real scenarios

I read the description of the study in the article, and it looks like both the AI and non-AI groups were given the same set of tasks, so the AI group didn't have the option to move onto something harder. In practice, I think some people use AI the way you describe, others outsource thinking to it.

I looked into it, and I'd say probably not. It looks like the feds aren't pursuing a charge for the suppressor since he plead guilty to murder, and states are generally allowed to have stricter gun laws so NY likely won't be forced to drop their charge for it.

I've been using AI as a toy for years, and largely have the same sentiment. I got pushed to start using it at work about a month ago, and so far have found exactly two use cases where I get a legitimate benefit, and make checking the results part of my work flow.

Both things can be true. I think a lot of people don't understand how disturbing it is to watch a person die on video until they've done it. Some who are excited now certainly won't be after the fact.

My issue is that, if adults are going to use AI, a lot of the pitfalls could be avoided if they've had training on how to use it with a healthy dose of skepticism, rather than having it dumped on them at 18. High school classes with an AI system with strong guard rails could be a decent venue.

I saw this concept pop up a couple years ago. But then, the pitch was that kids would develop better risk assessment skills by learning to navigate situations that felt potentially dangerous.

One theory I've heard recently is that tech companies try to create buzz that makes their product sound more powerful to pump the stock price, even if the premise makes no sense or makes them sound evil. Getting the leader of a religion with a billion members to be your mouthpiece accomplishes that.

Growing up in the pre-social media age and knowing people who never got into it, the thing I saw frequently was people playing nice face to face, then taking the first opportunity to talk shit on the other person behind their back.

I turned a corner on it recently. I found that it can be useful if you give it small tasks where you can't get around verifying the results. Like, I won't ask it to summarize what a document library says about a certain topic, but will ask it to tell me where to find the information.
