I’m seriously considering this right now at the grand old age of 44. It’s taken me 4 weeks to get back on an even keel after barely making it to the end of the last year. Fair? No. Necessary? I think so 🤷‍♀️

This has happened to me so many times. You get settled in ready to read an extended ending with all loose ends ties up in detail for it to end abruptly. Then you suffer book grief. Then you think, hang on, the next one must be as good so read the random chapter but then have no more to go on. 😩

In my local cemetery there is a public grave of 10 unidentified children and 3 adults from 1942. I always pop by to say hello and clear off the headstone and there’s always flowers and toys there.There’s currently one of those windmills you get at the seaside. Definitely happy sad.

We did exactly this 2 yrs ago for the same reasons. Unfortunately, it didn’t work for us. What has worked is an academy taking over with much higher expectations/presentation being much higher profile across the school, including children getting and keeping a pen for high standards of presentation.

I would say I’m about 5x more effective working at home as I’m able to focus for a sustained period of time without interruptions. We have limited space to work in school with no offices or quiet areas. I’d really struggle if I couldn’t have PPA at home. Helps with appointments/life admin etc too.

We had an actual snow day today! School was closed! We never close! It was a blessing having a day to process the term so far and get loads of jobs done that needed to be done and were cluttering my mind, but not high priority. If I was in charge, I’d give every teacher a day mid-term just for this

I think we need a debate in this country about what education is for. We're lost in a spiral about driving up standards whilst knowing many find school a terrible ordeal. Why is that? Learning should be joyful and a continual part of life It's not just about turning out cogs for the economy.

The anxiety generated from the pressures of formal testing seem to use up a huge amount of cognitive resources leaving little for some children to actually showcase what they can do/know. Definitely not a one fits all system. (2/2)

My daughter just sat her GCSE’s. As a neurodivergent child, she struggles with ‘performance’. Her french grade was markedly lower than her ability as she couldn’t get through the formal speaking test despite being in France for a week in the same month speaking near fluent French. (1/2)

I’ve decided I’m going to go for a walk on a lunchtime. Even if it’s around the block. I find my patience is wearing thin in the afternoon and I get hot and feel overwhelmed because I work solidly through my lunch and don’t decompress 👍🏻
