My husband made me a version of a "reflecting pool" cocktail with rum, pineapple juice, and blue curaçao. He thought it was boring, so he had to make me a 'better' cocktail
A greenish cocktail in a coup glass with a blue raspberry fruit roll-up lining the glass. It was shaken, so there is a nice foam layer on topAnother cocktail in a coup glass. The green is a little more "hidden lagoon" than gross algae.
He used a new-to-us gin, Edinburgh Gin Seaside Coastal Dry Gin, green chartreuse, acid adjusted pineapple juice, and blue curaçao, on top of a blue raspberry fruit roll-up.
It was surprisingly licorice forward

Any crafting type people here who do beadwork? I need help putting a value on a collection. They are all glass, and from the 90s I have 4 containers, roughly 7 in x 10 in, I'll share the other pictures if anyone asks
A Darice branded multi-compartment container; nine of the sections have very small beads. I tried to count how many beads per gram, but I'm not that patient so I stopped after 25. The compartments are a little over an inch deep. The third from the left on the top had more than 60 grams of beads, so I'm estimating 300 grams worth of beads total

Spring in the bayou feb/mar
Photo taken from a bridge overlooking Buffalo Bayou in George Bush park. On the left, the bank is mottled dead grass and grass that's starting to grow. Taken February 11 2026Same location, this time the water is centered in the photo. There is a young alligator's head visible in the water as well as the shadow of a turtle swimming underwater.
Taken March 5th 2026, the grass on the banks is much greener. At least ten turtles on broken tree stumps sticking up out of the algae covered water of Buffalo Bayou.
Photo taken February 19 2026A raft of ants floating on a spring puddle. There is a mass to the right of the photo and a bridge of ants trailing to the left. Ants were running back and forth.

Senator Maria Collett
Memo
Soon I will introduce legislation aimed at prohibiting the use of public funds to purchase electronic data without a warrant.

In our increasingly interconnected society, it has become common for law enforcement agencies to acquire information linked to the devices of suspects to assist in their investigations, often bypassing the critical need for judicial approval. This issue, often referred to as the “data broker loophole,” enables organizations across the country to obtain personal information that would typically require a warrant to access. Rather than demonstrating probable cause to a judge, agencies can currently purchase sensitive data such as location histories and other metadata from third-party brokers. These brokers collect extensive information from mobile applications that track users' movements and behaviors, creating detailed records of their daily lives. The types of data gathered include electronic communications, geolocation data, financial transaction records, and various other sensitive details.

My proposed legislation will not eliminate law enforcement’s access to this data but will establish clear guidelines on how it can be obtained. From now on, law enforcement agencies will be required to secure a judge’s approval through a search warrant or obtain consent from the device’s owner before accessing such information.

Considering the lack of federal action on this crucial issue, it is imperative that the Commonwealth take steps to safeguard our residents and their sensitive personal information from being sold to third-party data brokers. I invite you to join me in supporting this important legislation to protect our community’s private rights.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:
"I have not attended the Trump State of the unions in the past and there's even less reason to attend this year. What would I hear if I did - more defense of ICE immigration crackdowns and border patrol lawlessness? More justification for tearing down the iconic East wing of the White House for an unneeded vanity ballroom and for slapping his name on The Institute of Peace and the Kennedy Center? More excuses for pardoning fraudsters, January 6th felons, political whores and Trump's sports heroes? False claims of bringing down the cost of utilities and the affordability of groceries? Fantasies of creating a new healthcare program? I don't need to hear the lies and predictable banality from the offensive and out of touch president."

Oddly enough, I (a Xennial) used a water bottle all the time in school. I reused Gatorade bottles and would freeze them overnight so they would melt during the day. Sometimes I'd top them off at a water fountain or sink. I guess I've always been a thirsty bitch
Ramos, 38, was stunned when her daughter asked what her water bottle was like back when she attended school, and what design she chose when she was little. Ramos couldn’t cope with the out-of-the-blue question, telling Newsweek that it was "so relatable to other parents" raising Gen Z (born between 1997 and 2012) and Gen Alpha (born between 2013 and 2025) kids.

The thing about teaching is that you very rarely have perfect students. If they were perfect they wouldn't need you to teach them at your level. At my level ECE I see teachers struggle a lot because they are focusing on the subject matter to the exclusion of the children 1/x
Screenshot from slate com job advice:
Dear Good Job,

I have been an eighth-grade teacher for seven years now and am beginning to think I made a terrible mistake in terms of choosing my profession.

It’s not me, it’s the kids. And it’s getting worse.

The kids I teach are rude and feral. They refuse to read or treat others with the slightest bit of decency, give up at the first sign of difficulty, and possess the attention span of goldfish. And it only seems to get worse with each passing year. The kids get dumber and the regard for learning keeps cratering. With the coming cuts to public education, is it even worth continuing as a teacher at this point?
