When one of my brother’s friends showed me Metallica when I was 11, their main appeal to me was that they sounded like Doom. Prince’s soundtracks were a springboard for my early obsession with extreme music and I don’t think it’s hyperbolic to say that his work changed the trajectory of my life. RIP
