Bit late but on Tuesday lower set Year 11 were feeling really confident plotting quadratics, cubics and reciprocals as well as solving simple quadratics graphically thanks to the brilliant resources on mathspad. Such a great site! www.mathspad.co.uk #MathsToday

In #MathsToday I used Dr Frost Maths to set a standard and advanced set of questions on HCF and LCM for Year 10, tracking their progress as they went. The difficulty levels were perfect for consolidating the basics while also stretching the most able

In #MathsToday Yr 10 used some of the tasks from this great set of questions from @1stclassmaths.bsky.social to practise some tricky equations involving index laws and solving quadratics. Given it’d been a while since they’d factorised to solve, I was impressed! www.1stclassmaths.com/_files/ugd/9...

This sounds really similar to what I do. The quiz tells you what they can actually do rather than what whoever helped them with their homework can do! Do you let them use their homework as a crib sheet? I find that makes them complete it really well!

Nothing groundbreaking. Just lots and lots of practice of as many different ones as possible. I don’t get them to solve all the way to the end in class. Once they are down to a single trig term equal to a number we write ‘…solve’ and move on to the next one. That way we can practise more in class.

In #MathsToday U6 we’re getting a lot of satisfaction from solving trig equations involving the addition and double angle formulae. Lots of ‘light bulb’ moments as they spotted what to do!

In #MathsToday I gave my new yr 12 class some of the trickier questions from their IGCSE exams in the summer to see if there were any rusty skills! Yr 10 recapped fraction skills including considering whether a common numerator might be more efficient when comparing fractions such as 3/11 and 4/15
