The unusual Rubus squarrosus from New Zealand is one of those plants people always stop and look at in my garden. The tiny thorns are almost like diamonds along the (mostly) leaf-less branches. Another plant that will be for sale on my stand at the Eltham Palace Plant Fair on 13/14 September. 🌱

A scrambling plant with thin twigs without leaves and with small, white thorns.

The Blue Tits love it when I put my cat's fur outside after he's been brushed.

Purr-chase a wildcat sponsorship this Valentine's Day 😻 Margaret is feisty. Oscar is very vocal but all talk. Skye’s agile and great at problem solving. Together, they are the best chance of saving wildcats in Scotland – with your support. 🧡 savingwildcats.org.uk/sponsor 🧡

The Tetrapanax at work is in full bloom with even some late bumblebees enjoying the nectar. I never noticed it before, but it is actually (pleasantly) scented too!

Making Bread on a Stick. Surprising how people here give me a weird look and think I just put a slice of toast over the fire. Not a thing here, unless you've been a scout/forest school attendee?

Looking for a xmas gift for gardeners? My book The Jungle Garden shows how to make perfect combinations with foliage size, shape and textures in mind. Mostly working with hardy plants, the plant index of over 100 jungle plants should give you lots of inspiration!
