I’m struck by how it’s all “feelings,” despite very much being analyses of leftism. It is an emotional testimony of impotence and horror drifting midstream into a highly cynical tactical analysis. I think it’s partly “the US doing war crimes are normalized to the point that it’s a non-issue for an astonishing number of liberals,” and partly “patriotic virtue signaling about ‘endangering troops’ is one of few things the public might turn on Trump over.” Both are sad statements on where we are.
