It's crazy that the final two weeks of the season with playoffs on the line your top two starters need an extra day off when the team is running on two bullpen days. I miss the days when the aces would go on three days rest in situations like this.

Baseball has changed so much. Not sure how Cease is feeling, but not too long ago in a tight pennant race with two weeks to go, the ace would actually move up and pitch on three days rest, instead of getting an extra day so our worst pitcher would pitch against a team trying to catch you in a race.

With Soriano pitching, this is probably the smoothest landing possible for Keys in left, or at least start at DH to providea power threat. Sanchez the batter hasn't been cutting it lately.

Kind of related. I think Ernie Whitt had to play almost every game down the stretch in 1985 after Buck went down. He was having good year with the bat but worn down and his offense disappeared.

There are other teams in similar spot as the Blue Jays. If one of them goes on a run it can change the bar significantly for Toronto. Shooting for WC3 with in crowd of teams is a dangerous game to play.
