Today's options are possibly my favourite historian, Richard J. Evans, or definitely one of my favourite #Kidlit authors, @mazevansauthor.bsky.social. I guess I'm just a fan of Evanses 😂 any relation?? #readingteachers #history

@bridgeanne.bsky.social Hi Anne. Hoping you remember me and my wife from Canterbury! Don't know if you're still active on the platform formerly known as Twitter, but I've dropped you a message over there (Bluesky is trying to make me verify my age for the privilege!) Hopefully talk soon :)

Quick one to start, if I may: how many whole books do you think ks2 should aim to finish in a year, utilising extended reading lessons and class story time? Full transparency: some SLT initially wanted 3 and I've been stubborn and argued up to 5 (and hoping it won't come back to bite me! 😅)

Delighted to be confirmed as reading lead for next year with two main foci: to embed @suchmo83.bsky.social's reading lesson structures and to become a true reading for pleasure centre. Any tips (on either of the above) are most welcome!

So good. Bought Edison years ago as a punt but have never seen any of the others out in the wild!

Anyone recommend any archaic texts for Year 3 or 4? Purely reading focus, short enough to be finished in a half-term or across whole spring term. Struggling! Thanks :) #PrimaryEduSky

My wife and I will be in attendance for her birthday date night 😅 Let no-one say I don't know how to treat a woman! Very excited after rolling out fluency, extended and close reading lesson structure at my school this term 👍

Firmly believe that teachers should also be learners. Anyone got any fun academic interests that are as obscure as my obsessions with the #SpanishCivilWar? #History #UKEduSky #BookSky #ReadingTeachers #PrimaryEduSky

My pleasure. If you get a moment, I'd love to hear your advice on text selection for extended vs close reading? Just trying to map out a term as an example for colleagues as it's an enormous break from what we have been doing!

Mr B Reads @mrbreads.bsky.social · 02/04/2025

Definitely recommended! We are trialling basing our whole reading curriculum on the approach outlined in the book from next term, which is a huge undertaking but one we think will reap huge rewards!

I mostly refrain from politicking here, but I'm a big fan of someone doing this to a roadsign for 'The America' in my village 😂 Well-played, neighbour! #BritishHumour #America #Mexico

I ADORE dress-up for WBD, but always follow two rules: 1) spend nothing, 2) dress as a character from a book I've read with the class. So good for building the class reading community.

I never thought I'd run for more than a couple of mins at a time, so thankfully I'm quite happy with my little 5ks! Just wish I enjoyed them a bit more 😅

Mr B Reads @mrbreads.bsky.social · 06/03/2025

Picked up a low-end but brand-new treadmill to fill the gaps between proper runs as we find it tricky to get out with toddler. Hopefully increase fitness and make the road runs a bit easier??? Still feel like ima chunder at the end of a 5k!

I was out-Podkinned by a Podkin superfan in year 5 who went absolutely all out, but I was pleased with my cobbled-together effort 😅 my class are LOVING the book at the moment, so thanks again for writing it!
