I read somewhere that instead of teaching students to use AI, we should be teaching students to be users of AI. Technology may change, but my hope that students will be equipped with responsible habits will not.

I'm trying to put much more emphasis on my students' writing process rather their their writing products. After all, students can misuse AI to generate a writing product, but they can not generate a writing process. Thus far, these checkins have been a success!

Using Google's Notebook LM, I explored the intersection of the BC Ministry of Education's "Considerations for Using AI Tools in K-12 Schools," the OECD's AI Literacy Framework, and UNESCO's "AI Competency Framework for Students" to create this list of ten essential AI competencies for our students.

I don't tell my students how to feel about AI technology. But I certainly tell them about it. We chat about the ethics of it. How it could help society. How it could harm society. The whole spectrum. I'm not sure what the answer is. But not talking about AI is not a viable option. Not to me.

My Philosophy 12 students are analyzing and then assessing the significance of the Simulation Hypothesis. Today, we had a rich discussion on what is the end goal of technology innovation. Students are rather pessimistic and cynical toward technology these days, especially tech companies.
