Big fan of the traditional ‘put the Star Trek cast in civvies and make them look like a sitcom’ photoshoot.
The early cast of Deep Space Nine lounging about a sofa in various shades of blue. The cast of Star Trek Voyager lounging about a sofa in various shades of browns and beiges. The cast of Enterprise lounging about in lots of linen and denim, and looking like the cast of One Tree Hill or something.

Tom Watson’s move to Palantir is the latest sign of how far the rot has spread in UK politics. Like Blair, Cameron, Clegg, Mandelson, hired to open govt networks to companies and corporate capture of the state. They sell political capital built with public money. What do we get in return?

The BBC has been showcasing the views of oil tycoon Jim Ratcliffe in every news show for the last 24 hours, noting that he's "one of Britain's richest men". Shouldn't this be "one of Monaco's richest men"? How about similar airtime for (say) one of Britain's poorest women?

Don't confuse "wealth" with "super-wealth". The wealthy already pay their fair share because their wealth generally comes from earnings. But the super-wealthy pay nothing because they earn very little on paper. They instead make money with their money — which isn't taxed because we only tax earnings
