wound up with a sub-10k 2025 Limited RWD for a touch under $35k. decided to hold out & pay more for a '25 since I think it will age better. reminded me how much I hate buying cars. the salesman kept trying to put me in another car even though I knew they had a '25 I5 on order.

it blatantly seems like a scam if all this is true. either they're going just keep the money you paid after your 120 months, or you have to certify payments at a higher rate and lose cheaper months you could have bought back.

* incentivizes some people are saying you should certify your employment every month so you don't lose money, but if you do that you lock in those payments at your new monthly amount. (you can only buy back enough months to reach forgiveness. you can't "undo" certified payments.)

No one can definitively answer the question "what happens to payments you make between buyback request & offer if you don't certify them (or left your qualifying job)?" some legit people are saying they count for nothing, down the toilet, which is insane to me. it incentives long processing times.

you should read rick atkinson's books if that's your thing. one of the things that struck me reading them was how bad washington was as a field marshal early on. also, unlike, say, the civil war or ww2, there's not really a plausible argument that victory was preordained.

we moved preschools because of a kid like this. i didn't like my daughter having a frenemy at age 3. her mom once said to me, "i didn't realize i had to teach her manners." she made my kid cry 4 times at her 4th bday party. recently saw the kid at a birthday party and she was MUCH better behaved.

you can also flip this the other way. if your interviewer ate lunch during your interview, what would that signal to you? maybe this is the only time they've ever done it! but you don't know that, so you're probably reading a ton into it.

right, you have to realize that the interviewer doesn't know much about you, so ever little piece of information they get takes on bigger meaning. showing up 5 min late to work after you've been on time for months is a lot different than showing up 5 min late to an interview.

another fun one is that some old timpani parts are always notated on the C and G lines, but it will say e.g. "Pauken in Es B" at the top of the part. sometimes they'll just leave out the accidentals, so it would be "Pauken in B Fis" but it would look like a tritone, notated B and F natural.
