MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 02/10/2026Map for Back to the Future (PC-88): mp83.file-hunter.com/Maps/Back%20... 052
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 02/10/2026When people talk about old games, I don't buy the idea that the graphics were always made with CRT blending in mind, because high-quality video output existed even in the 80s. However, in cases like Back to the Future for the PC-88, it's super obvious that this is the case: 2145
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 01/10/2026Here's my current high scores for the PC-88 version of Back to the Future, a game that was just recently dumped. It's exactly the same game as the MSX original, but with added Low difficulty, which is only slightly easier. 071
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Not sure why I did this, but I ripped the graphics from all three versions of Hunchback: The Adventure (1986, Ocean Software). 120
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 01/09/2026Thanks to modern technology, I can just change the font. (: Here's the ZX Spectrum version of the game using the Hunchback II (Commodore 64) font: 050
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 31/08/2026Hunchback: The Adventure has one of the worst fonts I've ever seen in a game, and it's a text adventure, where the entire game revolves around reading text! Just look at how much the “s” looks like a “g.” 3151
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 28/08/2026This obscure, officially licensed Highlander RPG needs to be found and preserved! ASCII published it in 1986 exclusively via mail order and only for a very limited time. Three episodes were released, each priced at 3,000 yen. The game was available for the PC-8801 and Sharp X1 computers. 34418
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 27/08/2026The games "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" and "The Return of Heracles" were re-released by EA in 1986 as a set called "Age of Adventure." This is the preferred way to play these two games because the menu navigation was made less awkward, and you can adjust the game speed. 030
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 27/08/2026Here are covers to early computer RPGs that Stuart Smith made between 1980 and 1985. I’ve only played them recently for the first time, and I gotta say, they’re charming and still rather fun to play today, if you don't mind the outdated visuals. 191
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 27/08/2026This Japanese episodic Highlander RPG, released by ASCII in 1986 for the PC-8801 and Sharp X1 computers, is lost media. It was available by mail order for a limited time and appears to have been advertised only in LOGiN magazines (11/1986–01/1987). Will this game ever be found? 073

MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 30/07/2026Gagnant is a #MSX game released by Humming Bird Soft in 1986. It’s quite good, with nice mechanics (enemies stay dead, destructible environments), but was released broken. The good ending couldn’t be reached, and the high-score feature didn’t work. @larsthe18th.bsky.social has now fixed it! 063
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 20/07/2026Here is the goddess Artemis from Phelios, a Namco game released for arcades in 1989 and the Mega Drive/Genesis in 1990: 080
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 17/07/2026It was fun exploring the AX series for the PC-6001. Lots of stinkers or generic games there, but there were also games of some interest: Arabian Rhapsody (AX-1) Nostromo (AX-2) Olion (AX-5) Quest: The Adventure (AX-5) Bounder Robo (AX-9) Outlaw (AX-10) Pop Hand (AX-10) The Seven Bibles (AX-10) 091
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 17/07/2026The artist for the AX-2/Nostromo cover is Masashi Iwasaki. Haven't found confirmation for the M36 Planet cover yet. Could be the same artist. 042
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Every illustration from the Japanese MSX manuals of Gradius (グラディウス), Gradius 2 (グラディウス2), Gopher's Ambition Episode II (ゴーファーの野望EPISODEII), and Salamander (沙羅曼蛇). Beautiful artwork! #MSX #Konami #shmup #gradius #nemesis #salamander #lifeforce 01811

MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 08/07/2026Since I've mapped every other game in the Iligks series, I might as well map the Saturn version of Theseus: mp83.file-hunter.com/Maps/Theseus... 030
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 08/07/2026A perfectly normal early English localization of Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished - The Omen. It was released in the West for the Apple IIGS and DOS under the title Ancient Land of Ys. Nothing unusual here. Nope, not at all! 073
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 05/07/2026What a pleasant surprise! In 1998, Masakuni Mitsuhashi, one of the developers of Theseus (MSX), decided to remake the game and include it as one of the sample applications in "GAME BASIC for SEGA SATURN". I had no idea this even existed! It's quite charming. 04521
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 05/07/2026There we go! I just finished mapping Micro Iligks (MSX), a game that was released as a type-in program listing in LOGiN. With this, the entire Iligiks (MSX) series is now mapped. mp83.file-hunter.com/Maps/ 030
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 04/07/2026I recently learned about the AX series for the NEC PC-6001 computer, published by ASCII in the early 80s. I became interested in the AX series after learning that "Quest: The Adventure" from AX-5 is a precursor to "Iligks Episode IV" (MSX). Time to explore the PC-6001! 🤓 4103
MP83 @mp83.bsky.social · 03/07/2026Theseus II (MSX) mapped! It's an interesting sequel that was only released as a type-in program listing in LOGiN magazine (02/1985) and later in LOGiN Game Book (08/1985). It may have also appeared on one of the LOGiN compilation tapes. mp83.file-hunter.com/Maps/Theseus... 171
