If there's no new Gohan in the new DBS footage I'm going back to fantasising about the 2 minutes from the Precure movie that I can't see yet

One thing I do appreciate about AI is it makes me feel like some kind of punk rebel by simply using my own fucking brain

I don't feel that bad about staying on twitter because that's where all the Japanese news is still, but this one blew up recently so might as well share it here #another5yearsof3housesdiscourse

I recommend getting into a successful franchise and finding a favourite character who isn't the protagonist so you get to be excited every time new material comes out that remembers to include them.

I hate it when my clients plug my words into AI and tell it to expand it. Maybe it looks better to you. To me it looks like adding pointless fluff. ...this is because of the ADHD, isn't it...

I guess it's fair for people to treat Akio Iyoku as Public Enemy #1 for the Dragon Ball fandom, but you don't need to fool yourself into believing the franchise came out with much better content before 2013.

Gaby @mozillavulpix.bsky.social · 23/09/2026

Man, I would love a voice drama or something where all the male voice actors in Precure come and joke about how their characters were given poor treatment before they all unite against a common enemy. Bandai

Like I do genuinely wonder if there's a difference in creativity depending on whether you can remember your dreams or not. Because you realise there are so many types of stories that don't exist except while you're dreaming.

Really vivid dream night again. For the first time in a while my subconscious decided "what if Izuru Kamukura was in this? His whole thing is he can do *anything*"

There's this Disney+ ad at the train station escalator that's got The Bear as an example of things on it, and given what it's next to, I keep thinking it's some live-action remake of Ratatouille

Gaby @mozillavulpix.bsky.social · 15/09/2026

Me, larping; are my complaints about Detective Precure's pace all Bandai's fault? Because they wanted to release toys at the end of July and the end of August? What kind of release schedule is that? It's not spread out at all.

Nice to hear about the potential artstyle inspirations they might have had. It explains why the character models very clearly don't look like "put these guys into Unreal Engine"

Today is Satoru Toyama's birthday! Yesterday I went to see a production of Fiddler on the Roof, and Motl really reminded me of him. If Satoru was a poor Jewish tailor from Russia in the early 20th century.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero having all the elements that pander to me, and then underperforming is exactly the reason why I shouldn't be in charge of the franchise

With the perspective of not thinking about it for months, it's not that I hate Vegeta - I hate all the times a supporting character gets more popular than the protagonist and so they bend the story to include them in more prominence to satisfy their fans.

Gaby @mozillavulpix.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

As soon as I get mildly excited about the possibility of more Dragon Ball, I realise that means more Vegeta fanservice and I just sigh. I sigh so much

Gaby @mozillavulpix.bsky.social · 02/09/2026

Like it would have been fun to speculate about the mysteries, but I would not have figured out any of them, given the key to them is "sometimes characters are lying to the audience" and I never considered that as a starting point.

010

Gaby @mozillavulpix.bsky.social · 01/09/2026

The biggest difference between early Precure and 'modern' Precure is they used to get male voice actors to put on squeaky mascot voices because it was funny. Now they get male voice actors to voice cutesy mascots with their normal deep voices because that's even funnier.

130

Gaby @mozillavulpix.bsky.social · 31/08/2026

I wonder what I would have thought about Umineko if I had known the 'point' of each chapter was to show you a mystery and ask "would this be possible"

i've never really gotten into any pokemon animated stuff. i think it always gives off the impression to me of being too safe or there just being too much baggage. although they've tried so many different approaches over the years
