GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 3hI love horror and trashy genre works but I kind of hate how often satanic panic ass lore is just taken as a given 0120
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 3hOK I thought we were just going for The Big from The Big Sleep applied to anything and I admit this is better but you can still The Big any title if you wanted to 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 3hI think we may be underestimating how much it's a thing with media in general to just be like "give the audience what it wants" which is kind of a hole that can never be filled 0180

GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 08/10/2026I love the artists who draw fictional rockets, it's not my realm but I think it's beautiful. 0150
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 07/10/2026I saw a captcha that went "select the items that you use with your hands" and the examples were: A power drill A chair A coat Boots It's kind of a thinker. Do you 'use' a chair with your ass? Do you 'use' a coat with your shoulders? You certainly use your hands to put it on. 3200

GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I've been SAYING this. The little dancing circle strafe you have to do is gameplay. 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Huh, same artist who did this, which I'd been very curious about lifeafterbob.iolifeafterbob.ioLife After BOBLife after BOBLife After BOB 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Poster looks hard, I think I saw them play at Il Motore 1110
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I suppose the tunnel is a sort of rut but more power to you 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026There's some kind of lesson in the idea of people who should be the most aware of this just talking themselves into finding complicated ways to justify what they wanted to believe and do anyway. The community was into self-improvement, which meant getting REALLY interested in pickup artistry. 090
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I used to read LessWrong very regularly, but I turned out alright... I was very sympathetic to the idea of trying to be mindful of your own fallible human nature! 180
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I think that's how I'd do a casual triangulation mechanic: get to a high point and you can kind of sketch in landmarks that are in view, and they become more solid if you can spot them again from another location. 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Stock design by the way but I didn't think the pony looked Aware enough 0220
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Ah the old "I have nowhere to be today, I can go back to sleep a little as a treat :)" maneuver followed by waking up feeling like I've been in a cryogenic freeze for centuries. 0190
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026It's very cool. Your character is also kind of fragile, and you will fall down steep slopes, and you're being stalked by some kind of creature, so your ability to navigate the terrain is really critical. There's nothing else quite like it. 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I think that's part of why people chafe at it, just adding a bunch of icons on a map boils things down into a list of chores, doesn't feel self-directed. But spotting a big shape and heading towards it is fun. 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Yes! Have you ever played Miasmata? Only game I've played that has an actually triangulation mechanic. It still fills in the map automatically, but it's pretty interesting how much you 'feel' the terrain, since like, it's much harder to line up landmarks inside a wooded valley, for example. 120
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I actually like climbing towers to reveal portions of a map...I feel like there's a more refined game idea lurking inside that cliché somewhere. 3210

GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026If you could carry around an accessory that was just a camera-facing sprite, what would it be? 4130
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Good idea, I'm not trying to do anything authentic it's mostly just about the look. 000
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Me? No no no, I'd never let the worms into MY brain- I just want to touch them a bit...see how they feel. 0151
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Yeah, I think you're right...it bugs me when glasses look totally flat but they're pretty much flush with her eyeballs. 010
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Pick your poison. (Looking at Baroque PS1 models thanks to library.pardallgames.com/scene) 5460
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Oh yeah! I'm also doing some funky stuff in the compositor, I scatter pixels by adding noise to the UVs and then blend that over the image to get fuzzy pixel noise borders. 020
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 28/09/2026Just Blender, they've got cheapo raycasting on EEVEE now which I'm making a lot of use of. I want to know if I could get a similar look in Godot or something. 120
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Wow, the pixel art in this is all nasty and scrungly in an interesting way. Surprisingly expressive shapes, feels kind of like modern throwback stuff. 2536
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 27/09/2026The other thing is I always forget that Mark Ferrari did the illustrations for the Field Guide to Creatures of the Dreamlands which I was incredibly fascinated by as a kid. I didn't even know who Lovecraft was. 4595
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 25/09/2026I keep thinking about this northernlion bit where he says something like: "You thought you lured me into the maze? I'M THE MINOTAUR." Powerful. 0300
GP @mousefountain.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Thank you! I love laying out the pipery and trying to make it feel like it does something. 010
