Having been a DOJ monitor, this number of monitors is orders of magnitude more than I can remember on deployments in 2008/2012. We relied on staff attorneys and non attorney staff as helpers. Like 2-3 people per team, we each checked in on ~ 20 polling places throughout the day.

AI adoption, in my personal view, is going to create large blind spots in analytics. We will fool ourselves with data analyses led by AI without being deeply emmeshed in understanding the underpinning assumptions in its model and function. It can do a lot. I find it useful. But I worry.

Let me be blunt, as a statistician who's worked in Natural Resources Management: Wild horses, especially in the American West, are an invasive non-native species that out-compete native foragers. In a water-starved West, they're accelerating soul erosion and declines in plant biomass.
