We experience glitches in real life, too. Asbestos warps the lungs. Content moderators can’t shake off what they’ve seen. Far away in history, the radium girls have glowing teeth. An office worker’s arms contract painfully from carpal tunnel. Of course, the various forms of labor that can lead to these traumas cannot be equated to each other, but they have one thing in common: they change you. Work changes you.

Work can warp you in other ways, making you cruel, avaricious, driven by greed. That, too, is a kind of change, one that is often encouraged. Work-life balance has never made sense to me as a phrase, because under capitalism, work is life. Once, in an old job, the CEO encouraged us to think about how to be better employees “24/7, unless you’re sleeping.” At least he was telling the truth.

Life Is Strange: Reunion premieres today, but @saoirsestone.bsky.social is thinking about the original Life Is Strange -- the game that helped her find herself. buff.ly/pUwjNdO

Text reads: And then it was a decade later, and I hadn’t thought about Life Is Strange in years. I was aware of sequels, but they weren’t about Max and Chloe. I had a passing interest in Double Exposure, given it brought Max back, but without the pivotal relationship between the two, it wasn’t a priority for me.
And then Life Is Strange: Reunion was announced. And with it, Max and Chloe’s story had a chance at a new ending. I immediately knew I had to play it (it was released on March 26, 2026). So I downloaded Life Is Strange: Remastered to prepare myself.
I remembered the game well enough to finish quickly but also to make sure certain branches fell the way I wanted. I saved Kate, and Alyssa. I kept Frank alive. I made peace with Victoria. I tried to save everyone. But at the end, with all the benefits of age and experience, I rewrote my past and chose to doom Arcadia Bay.
It took a while to understand why.
