I consider coastal Oregon my ultimate happy place, and spend as much vacation time there as possible. But I always end up back in the beautiful mountains of Colorado where I am from and have deep roots

That’s beautiful! California has been on my mind lately for some reason 🤷‍♂️ I spent a fair amount of time living near Stockton in the center of the state. There is a lot of things that I don’t miss but there is also a lot of things that I miss for sure! I have met a lot of incredible people there.

Major breaking here at Newspaper Rock in southeastern Utah.

A southeastern Utah sandstone cliff face at ground level. The sandstone has a warm reddish orange color that has a heavy almost black natural desert varnish. Ancient people from the region used it to carve ancient symbols or petroglyphs.

I’m going through older pictures and thought I would share this one of autumn colors of southwestern Colorado.

Autumnal scene of thick aspen forest. Yellow and green blend and dominant. The sun is from behind the trees and makes every yellow leaf glow. Fallen yellow leaves litter the forest floor.

I bet a person could outline the old borders. I never thought about drawing a line to show the transition before until now. I like to think about how each town got its name. The Spanish names are more descriptive and somewhat more predictable.

It’s interesting to look closely at maps of the Southwest and western parts of the United States and notice how the towns and counties predominantly have Spanish names then it changes. I wonder if someone could draw a definitive line connecting the Spanish named towns where they change language? 🤔
