Major breaking here at Newspaper Rock in southeastern Utah.

A southeastern Utah sandstone cliff face at ground level. The sandstone has a warm reddish orange color that has a heavy almost black natural desert varnish. Ancient people from the region used it to carve ancient symbols or petroglyphs.

I’m going through older pictures and thought I would share this one of autumn colors of southwestern Colorado.

Autumnal scene of thick aspen forest. Yellow and green blend and dominant. The sun is from behind the trees and makes every yellow leaf glow. Fallen yellow leaves litter the forest floor.

I’ve been happy with my chile harvest this year. It’s been unseasonably hot and dry around here all summer but I was able to keep my pepper plants alive!

A colorful bunch of peppers and a purple and yellow speckled tomato. I don’t know offhand what the tomato is but the split chile is a Hungarian Hot Wax that I am snacking on the longer chiles are from Hatch varieties and the smaller ones are stunted Española variety.

A fairly close up picture of a cluster of Blue Oyster Mushrooms fruiting from a hole drilled into a 5 gallon bucket filled with straw and mushroom sawdust spawn. The straw under the bucket is starting to regrow and the grass is a nice spring shade of green. This is my first year growing Blue Oysters (Pleurotus ostreatus var. columbinus)but I also have and still grow Winecaps (Stropharia rugosoannulata).

Velocity basin lake sits at about 11315 ft or 3,450 m
