I have been on and off spiraling lately too, it's a hard time to be someone who cares. What helps me is knowing that care is not a weakness. Its pushing me to get involved with in person orgs that are trying to make a difference. Being around like minded people helps a lot, even if it feels small.

QRP with your most popular piece on bsky! I did not realize it was the MOTH but I'm glad it is, these take so long to make but are so worth it.

An embroidered moth pin based on a one eyed sphinx moth. The moth has fully beaded wings. the forewings are several shades of brown with the hindwings a pink with blue eyespots. The body is made with regular embroidery. A turkey stitch was used to give the head a hairy look and feel. It has two antennae made of beads and sequins. The pin is sitting on a blue fabric background.

The back side of the embroidered moth. it is a white fleece with a pin backing. You can see lines where I sewed through both sides of the wings to give them a more separated appearance.

I highly relate to this, esp because the "death" of my first sona coincided with discovering my gender identity. I kept redesigning them over and over trying to figure out why I wasn't relating to them anymore. Art is always an expression of the self, and sonas/fursonas are art!!

Omg i had a very similar situation. I bought a book, flipped to the back and read the author bio which had a bunch of hp references. Got the ick so bad I went out of my way to return it to the book store (which was in an entire other state). ATP I don't see that as petty at all, jkr/hp sucks ass.

A little rough around the edges but I wanted to share this 3D model I've been working on for a while now. Progress is slow among my other projects but its fun to play around with. This program doesn't do rigging so I recently split all the joints so he's posable! #dragon #3dmodeling

Got rained (and snowed!) on while camping in the PNW! Lots of fun (despite the cold). I brought my watercolors to mess around with and let nature paint with me. The little splotches on here were from the rain and larger blurry sections from the snow! #art #watercolor #forest

A watercolor painting of a Pacific Northwest forest. The focus of the painting are two trees which I referenced from two trees that were next to our campfire. The background has many less detailed tree trunks and branches as they grow smaller and less detailed in the distance. The two main trees have several branches sticking out with green pine needles at the ends. The bark of the trees has moss and lichen growing on it on the left side. During the painting process I repeatedly let the painting get rained on which created the smaller splotches/circles where you can see the paint got re-wetted. When I was nearly done with the painting it started to snow so I let it get snowed on as well. The snow was coming down in large snowflakes so they created a larger blurry effect then the rain.

I am finally learning to program my embroidery machine!! This first design was definitely pushing it with how small this machine can stitch but I learned a lot from it. It didn’t come out too great but I think its not bad for a first try! So excited to make more things. #dragon #embroidery

A embroidered dragon. The dragon is golden on brown striped fabric. The scales are a little too close together in some spots so its hard to tell exactly where the eye is. The dragon’s mouth is open in a roar and it has 3 sets of horns.

The design I drew to test out my embroidery machine. It is a very spikey and scaley dragon with 3 sets of horns with its mouth open in a roar. The dragon has many keeled scales and spikes on its chin. Some of the smaller scales I drew here had to be deleted in the final embroidery file because they were too small. The dragon is green for no particular reason, I just needed it to be a color and I like green. I realized about halfway thru drawing this that it would probably end up weird but because this was my first machine embroidery design and first time digitizing something I’d drawn I just figured I would make something and its not going to be perfect either way :P

I really love the vibes of this piece! The warm calmness of the flowers/plants contrasting the dragon watching beneath. And really well done that the color/shading communicates that might be sunset without even showing the sky. Super sick! This piece is giving me inspiration.

WIP from my Refsheet update! Taking this chance to update a few little design things on him. Mainly playing around with different scale types! Having fun pulling references from lots of different animals (gives me a chance to use my giant bird and dinosaur books :P) #dragon #sketch #art

A sketch showing a sideview of the torso, legs, and head of a wyvern style dragon (2 legs and 2 wings). Lots of construction lines are still visible and the wings aren’t very fleshed out yet but he’s standing up with his wings touching the ground for support. The wing that would be closest to the viewer is not pictured, and there is a blank outline around where it would connect to the dragon’s body so that the rest of it is visible. The dragon has 3 sets of horns on his head and 2 sets on his jaw. He has large keeled scales on his back and a row of spikes on the underside of his neck and belly.

A closeup of just the head from the previous sketch. This time the neck of the sketch is colored. The lower scales and underside of the neck are a grey-tan color and fade into darker colors as you go up. The darkest scales on the top of the neck have bright blue/teal edges. The skin between each scale is a slightly lighter color, this matches the appearance of many real life reptiles!

This isn’t the final color pattern I want to go with, I think his colors as a whole need to be slightly brighter, but I just wanted to see how they might look on the sketch I have right now!

Thinking about updating my refsheet and realized I’ve never even posted it here so here it is! He doesn’t need a full redesign or anything but I really want to draw him with improved anatomy and more lizard and bird inspiration.

A reference sheet of my dragon-sona! He is a grey-green dragon with a tan underside. He is a wyvern style dragon with only 2 legs and 2 wings. He has 3 sets of horns on his head. One set points forward off of his eyebrows, another curls around his ears to point forward and the last point behind his head like your typical dragon horns. He has a little bit of fur behind his head, on his chin, elbows, and tip of his tail. There are small bright blue markings on his face, tail and wings. He has green eyes. He also has a human form which shares his eyebrow horns and has an optional tail. The human form is wearing clothes with a similar color scheme to the dragon’s scales. The clothing style has a fantasy vibe.
