August and Gustopher are finishing up their grocery shopping. August is double checking their grocery list and Gustopher is taking this as an opportunity to ask for one additional item. They stand in front of a magazine rack that makes people ask "Wow, they still sell magazines? The only visible covers say "Hey! News" and "Aliens?"

August: That's everything on the list.

Gustopher: Can we get chips? They got new flavors.

August: One bag.

Panel 2

Gustopher runs to get some chips and faces a wall of choices. There's a wide variety of flavors. They include Pickle, Grape, Honey, Ham, Almond, Wasabi, Cool Blue, Mystery, Ghost, Chip, Heart Burn, Regret, and Licorice which is being blocked by Gustopher but you get to know it's there because you read the transcript.

Gustopher is paralyzed with indecision. The words of his father ring through his head.

Daryl and Seth are sleeping when Daryl starts to make noises.

Daryl continues talking in his sleep.

Daryl: Wha- Hel-

Daryl lets out a loud gasp which wakes Seth. He can tell that Daryl has woken from a bad dream.

Panel 3

Daryl has covered his eyes and is still talking. Seth places a hand on Daryl and tries to comfort him.

Daryl: I'll- I'll be quiet. I- I-

Seth: Daryl, sweetie. It was a dream. You're safe.

Panel 4

Daryl reaches up and takes hold of Seth's hand. He's starting to feel more grounded in reality.

Daryl: I'm sorry. It was the usual.

Seth is relieved that Daryl is feeling better and smiles.

Seth: It's okay. You're home and safe.

Daryl still feels the tension from his dreams but feels better being next to his husband.

Daryl: I love you.

Seth: I love you too.

The power has gone out and Gustopher is trying to figure out what happened. This has also conveniently made this panel extremely easy to draw.

Gustopher: Dad! Did the power go out?

August: I think so. Help me find my phone. I'll get a light.

Panel 2

August has turned on the light on his phone. This means I actually had to draw this panel. Mewbert is peacefully sleeping on the couch in the background. Gustopher is momentarily stunned by the light, but at least his dad found his phone.

August: This will help. My phone should be in this room.

Panel 3

Gustopher is confused. His dad is looking for his phone while using said phone as a light. He fights the urge to say anything and wonders how long it will take his dad to realize what's going on. Mewbert is annoyed at the commotion. Nougat has found herself on the top of the couch and is amused by the commotion.

August: I was just using it. I don't know where I-

August suddenly realizes that he is using is phone to try to find his phone. Embarrassment washes over him. Gustopher will remember this.

August: Oh.

Mewbert closes her eyes and attempts to go back to sleep. Nougat watches from above and it calculating how funny it might be if she pounces on Mewbert right now.

August is trying to survive a party he didn't want to go to. He's sitting on a couch and petting a dog when a lady approaches him. He tries his best to act cool.

Christine: Hey! Anyone sitting here?

August: No. Go ahead and park yourself.

Christine sits down and smiles at August. August doesn't notice as he is currently busy critiquing what he just said. The dog on August's lap is not bothered by anything.

August (thinking): PARK YOURSELF!? Why did I say that!? She probably thinks I'm weird.

August's internal thoughts grow more intense. His frustration with himself increases.

August (thinking): This is why I never go out. I scare everyone off with my weirdness.

There's still more people arriving at the party. Christine looks out to the crowd beyond the massive pile of empty cups next to her. August's friend and roommate, Seth, is being the wonderful social butterfly he is.

Christine: WOW! People are still arriving.

August: It's getting crowded.

Christine stands up from the couch while August remains seated.

Christine: Better get another drink before they're out.

August: Okay.

August assumes this is Christine politely excusing herself and doesn't budge.

August instantly starts to analyze their whole conversation. He's not very happy with how it went. He likes Christine but has a feeling that he didn't make a very good impression.

Catrick is filming an ad for a fast food restaurant's new product. He's excited to share it with you. He's wearing and tie so you know he means business but he also has a sweater vest on so you'll know he's friendly. He's also wearing gloves so he doesn't actually have to touch any food. There's a sign in the background that says "HOME SWEET HOME" which everyone hopes will disguise the fact that they're filming this in an empty conference room.

Catrick: I'm taking a break from my busy CEO schedule to show you our new product. Yummy.

Panel 2

Catrick is now sitting in front of a TV that says "CAT BURGER" with the Cat Burger mascot in the middle.

Catrick: I enjoy consuming product while sipping a loss leader and watching content on the subscription service.

Panel 3

Catrick has found himself two more food items from the Cat Burger menu. He's trying his best to keep them from getting too close to his mouth. In one had he has fries and in the other he has "Pistachio Spice" seasonal frozen treat. Does not actually contain pistachio.

Catrick: I like to finish my meal by dipping my added value side in a seasonal item. I do this several times a week.

Panel 4

Stuart is by the camera and giving Catrick feedback. No one has realized that no one has removed the cap from the camera. August from IT was brought in to see why the camera isn't recording anything. He's just standing there in stunned silence. He will not be getting Cat Burger for dinner.

Bolero: I got our lunch.

Ember turns to Grace to point out the obvious. There's nothing there for Mothleby, Grace's toy moth.

Ember: MOTHLEBY NEEDS LUNCH TOO.

Grace: Mothleby never eats here.

EMBER IS OUTRAGED! How could someone let this happen? She will be talking to Teacher about this immediately.

Panel 4

Ember marches directly over to Teacher to give him a piece of her mind. She pulls on his sweater sleeve. He is mildly irritated as he knows exactly what this is about.

Ember: TEACHER! MOTHLEBY NEEDS LUNCH TOO!

Teacher: Are you actually concerned or trying to get two lunches?

Ember: IT CAN BE BOTH!

Ember is such a good friend, she will happily eat anything that Mothleby doesn't. Tragically, she did not get two sandwiches that day.

Gustopher is working on his math homework. It's been taking him a while but he believes he has finally started wrap his head around it. Mewbert is there for emotional support.

Gustopher: I think I finally figured out my math homework. It's easy now.

Gustopher grabs his phone to check and see if his answers are correct.

Gustopher: Almost done! I can play video games after I check my work.

Mewbert is not sure about that statement but will continue to be there for Gustopher no matter what happens.

Panel 3

Gustopher silently stares at his phone. His answers aren't correct. Reality is crashing down on him. Mewbert has a sense that they will be at the desk for a while.

Panel 4

Gustopher angrily and silently returns to the homework. He's begun to erase the answers he previously put down and is trying to figure out where he went wrong. Mewbert closes her eyes and prepares to continue emotionally supporting Gustopher through this process.

Olivia is shocked! Cleaning ear buds? Is that something you're supposed to do? She already has a enough things in life to clean. Her room, her teeth, her ears... When is it going to stop?

Olivia: You clean yours?

Polly: You don't?

The two sisters silently stare at one another. One of those stares where both individuals are wondering how they could possibly be related to one another. On the wall are two posters. One is of the pop star Doe A'deare and the other is for the alt-rock band They Are Possibly Elephants. Polly and Olivia's dad was a big fan of the latter.

Olivia breaks the silence.

Olivia: You're weird.

Polly: You're gross.

Polly makes a mental note to never loan Olivia anything that would go anywhere near her ears.

Gustopher goes to his dad who is preoccupied with something on his phone. He asks about the tree.

Gustopher: Why did they cut down the tree on the corner?

August keeps his eyes on his phone but responds to Gustopher.

August: It was rotting and a safety hazard.

Panel 3

Gustopher looks back at the stump. He understands the reason why it would need to be cut down but he liked the tree.

Gustopher: I guess that's good. Is it weird that it makes me feel sad?

August senses the sadness and Gustopher's voice and puts down his phone. He looks at the stump as well.

Panel 4

August puts his hand on Gustopher's shoulder.

August: That's not weird. It makes me feel sad too.

The two of them take a moment a moment to process the emotion. It's not severe or intense but it's still there.

New set for James Conlon's EPOCH paleoart sketch series with ankylosaurian dinosaurs Minmi, Ankylosaurus, Jakapil, Borealopelta, and Stegouros. Minmi's appearance is speculative and Jakapil's placement is unsure, but hopefully this isn't too far off the mark. #Paleoart #Dinosaur #Ankylosauria

Some of these have speculative appearances, like Minmi, or an uncertain placement, like Jakapil. Minmi is mostly based on Kunbarrasaurus with more basal features mixed in and an orange and green coloration while laying down in a 'sploot' pose. Ankylosaurus is raising its club in a defensive display and has colors based on an eastern box turtle, Jakapil is in a sprinting pose with gray and orange colors, Borealopelta is reddish-brown with countershading and eating ferns, Stegouros is in a standing pose and is brown with orange accents.

The School Paper (Part 3) - Gator Days

Gustopher and Liam are hanging out in Liam's room. Liam is laying on his bed because he's stressed. Stressed because Miss Horsehill asked him if he would consider writing for the school paper. He's thinking it over very carefully. Perhaps too carefully. It's consuming his every thought. Liam's little sister, Ember, is sipping on a juice box next to Liam's bed. This juice box will keep her wrath contained, for now.

Liam: I love writing. And I like it when people read my writing.

Panel 2

Liam continues staring at the ceiling as he voices his true concerns to Gustopher. Ember's going to town on the juice box. It's good stuff.

Liam: But my feelings get hurt easily. I'm scared people might hate my work.

Panel 3

Gustopher does his best to help Liam move his thoughts in a positive direction. Ember is preparing to speak as she notices that her juice box is about to run dry. She'll surely have grand pearls of wisdom to share with her older brother.

Gustopher: Yeah, but there's also people who might love it. Sometimes you just have to take risks.

Panel 4

Miss Liam is tidying up her classroom as Liam walks in. She's holding a box labelled "Salt". Seriously, what is she doing with all that salt? Why does she have multiple salt boxes? What's she getting up to during the summer? It probably involves margaritas. Anyway, Liam has decided that he's going to face his fears and write for the school paper.

Miss Horsehill: Hello, Liam.

Liam: Miss Horsehill, I decided to write for the school paper.

Panel 2

Liam stands tall and puts his best foot forward.

Liam: The idea of millions reading my work is scary but I'll do my best.

Panel 3

Miss Horsehill stares blankly into space. It is just now occurring to her that she might have oversold the readership of the school paper. Behind her is a poster that says "Always Be Chewing" with a little cow saying "Don't Choke!". It's a good reminder to the children to make sure they properly chew their food before swallowing. Thank you cow, I will always remember you.

Miss Horsehill is quick to calm Liam's nerves.

Miss Horsehill: The paper only has a few dozen readers.

Liam: Thank God! That's less scary.

August and Gustopher are out shopping when they notices a Halloween display. Gustopher is instantly excited about Halloween coming up.

Gustopher: DAD! Halloween is coming!

August: It is!

Panel 2

August has been planning to make this year more exciting.

August: Since your taco costume was cheap last year, I think we should go big this time! What do you want to be?

Panel 3

Gustopher contemplates the choices with his hands to his side. Unrelated, but he's wearing his Sweater that says Sweater. It's a spin off of the Shirt Shirts but they haven't been quite as popular. People say that the Clothing Clothing company has sold out and they're just in it for the money.

Anyway, various ideas swirl around Gustopher's head. Including Vampire, Super hero, ghost, copyright infringement, space marine, lamp, and banana. Two names in the corner are slight obscured. They seem to say Adam Tots and Hollering Elk. Could be something else. I guess we'll never know.

Panel 4

After some careful considering, Gustopher knows exactly what he wants to be.

Gustopher: I wanna be a taco again!

August: Really? Are you sure?

Gustopher: TACO! TACO! TACO!

Gustopher is floating in a nameless expanse with his arms stretched out and his eyes closed... Colors of blue, black, purple, and pink spark and shift all around him. He can do nothing here but wait.

Gustopher: I am adrift in the realm between. Time is meaningless.

Panel 2

Gustopher contemplates his situation further.

Gustopher: How long has it been? Minutes? Years? Who knows...

Panel 3

In reality, Gustopher is laying on the floor with his cat, Mewbert, comfortably lying on top of him. August is watching while holding a cup of something warm that probably has caffeine in it. He would be concerned but is well aware that he has done stuff like this when he was a kid.

Panel 4

August decides to make sure that Gustopher is okay.

August: You okay?

Gustopher: Yeah, just waiting for my game to finish updating.

Mewbert opens her eyes and notices that Nougat, the other cat, has seen that Gustopher is lying on the floor. Mewbert does not wish to relinquish this comfortable place to nap. Nougat wants a lap to nap on too. There will not be peace in this house tonight.

Olivia and Gustopher are at the library. The Library is having a special event for books that have been banned in the past. Dora the librarian is stacking books with titles like "BOOK", "Boogers", "Tales", "Can you", "read this" and "Word". Olivia has a great interest in forbidden knowledge and has been browsing what's available. She's found a book called "Salt Box" and has an important question for the librarian.

Olivia: Miss Librarian! Why was this book banned?

Dora: Vulgar Language.

Panel 2

Dora makes a shocked expression and holds her hands to her face. This is the only way she can express how depraved the book is.

Dora: The word "butt" is used.... FIFTEEN TIMES!

Panel 3

Dora looks down to the children to gather their reaction. Internally, Gustopher is wondering if Dora meant "but" with one "t" or "butt" with two. Olivia immediately assumes it's the latter.

Behind them is a poster promoting banned books week. There is a cartoon book that's smiling and saying "I'm forbidden!" He's booky the banned book. He was specifically banned for being made using the darkest of magic. He's also kind of rude.

Panel 4

Olivia is excited about the book. This leads Gustopher to assume that "butt" was indeed spelled with an extra "t".

Olivia: Now I have to read it.

Dora: Oh noooo... I'll help you check it out.

Kyle and Kyle walk out on stage. Kyle, as usual, is not wearing a shirt and the other Kyle, as usual, looks like he doesn't want to be there. He's wearing a shirt that promotes their new album "Spoon Scuffle".

Kyle and Kyle take their seats and are ready for the interview. Timmy Fowlon jumps right into it.

Timmy Fowlon: You formed your band in high school. How did you two become friends?

Panel 3

Shirtless Kyle and Shirt Kyle give each other a meaningful glance. One of those glances that immediately transfers a lot of information between the two of them. A lot more information than is necessary in this moment. They'll be getting tacos after the interview is done.

Shirtless Kyle and Shirt Kyle set the record straight.

Kyle: We're not friends.

Kyle: I hate this guy.

Whether Kyle is referring to hating the other Kyle or the host is unclear.

Olivia and Gustopher are awaiting the results of a recent test. Olivia is a little nervous and decides to see how Gustopher is doing.

Olivia: How are you feeling about the test?

Gustopher: Confident.

Panel 2

Gustopher is feeling pretty relaxed. He's pretty sure he did alright. He spent a long time studying last night and his cats were there. Cats obviously improve studying ability. Everyone knows that.

Gustopher: I studied all night! I didn't understand it all but I put im the time.

Panel 3

Gustopher: I'm sure I did-

Gustopher's eyes are instantly drawn to the grade that's right above his name, Gustopher Green. He scored a 66 and received a D. It's a passing grade at his school but just barely.

Panel 4

Gustopher is hit by a wave of disappointment. It just doesn't seem right. He spent the time studying. He feels that he should have done so much better. All he can do now is sit in the moment and let one sound escape his mouth.

Gustopher: Oh.

Daryl: Here's your drink.

Daryl (thinking): Daddy?

Daryl is bewildered at this. Daddy? Why would anyone call him Daddy? He's not old enough to be a Daddy. Is he? What even is this?

Daryl is at home in bed next to his sleeping husband. He's still obsessing over the whole Daddy situation. Daddy? Seriously? Really? Is he looking that old?

Daryl (thinking): Daddy... Really?

Daryl is watching the sun set and still feeling awkward about the whole Daddy thing. Where has his youth gone? He feels like he's still kid. Maybe he should ask his doctor about a colonoscopy.

Daryl: Daddy... Dang.

Hannah and Olivia are on a bench watching the night sky. The stars are out and the sky is beautiful but Olivia voices a concern.

Olivia: It's kind of scary.

Panel 2

Hannah looks out in the furthest reaches of space and takes it all in. She finds that she agrees with Olivia.

Hannah: Yeah, Space is so vast and inhospitable. It's like our planet is surrounded by an endless void of death.

Panel 3

Hannah looks over to Olivia who is starting to look terrified. It is at this point that Hannah realizes that Olivia probably wasn't thinking about space.

Panel 4

Hannah acknowledges that she probably misread Olivia's concern. Now would probably be a good time to go inside.

Hannah: You were talking about the dark.

Olivia: Now I'm scared of two things.
