After a whole year, I'm back in México with @moskidraws.bsky.social! 🌮 It feels very nostalgic to be back, especially after the ordeal of making this trip happen. Moski has been to Portugal twice since last time, so it felt about time for me to return here for us to work together in-person again. 🐳

A selfie of Moski and me at the airport, smiling at the camera beside a statue of a crab with a red body, green claws, and white stars, representing the colours of the Mexican flag. The crab has its two claws raised above our heads, and has "México" written on it in black graffiti-style lettering.

Guys, I'm in a really bad place right now. No, not mentally. I'm in France. At the Paris airport. At least I found Remy. 🐭

A photo of a duty free shop shelf at the Paris airport packed with Ratatouille merchandise. Various large Remy plushies wearing white chef hats sit at the top, with many smaller Remy plushies stacked below them. Around the shelf are boxes of French baguettes and other Paris-themed souvenirs.

Yesterday was one of those days where I got as much stuff done as some entire weeks. 😅 Just a lot of open threads finally coming together after dragging on for months. I've been balancing travel plans, medical stuff, industry involvement, studio work, our game, and more. It gets tiring at times! 💦

A doodle of me exhausted, lying face-down on the floor while wearing a blue shirt, jeans and trainers, raising one arm to give an enthusiastic thumbs-up. There are three yellow emphasis marks above my thumb, while a scribble above my head suggests exhaustion. Besides me, a small red Pikmin stares in silence. This doodle was drawn by MoskiDraws.

A few very important messages from Big Walk, courtesy of @moskidraws.bsky.social! 🧭

A screenshot from Big Walk set during nighttime. An orange, round-bodied character stands in front of a large green noticeboard, raising their hand towards three white cards. From left to right, they read, "looks like updog over here", "wishlist townseek on steam" and "WAG is the best video game studio". To the right, a yellow character with a pink head stands beside a small wheeled table holding several objects.

Big Walk has a lot of accidental renaissance potential. 🔴🟡

A screenshot from Big Walk framed as a group portrait from my player character's point of view, with me holding a glowing red light in front of me. Four colourful, round-bodied creatures rest on a bright red staircase inside a dark blue room. On the left, a teal figure is sleeping while holding a glowing yellow light above their head, while a black figure with a red head sits beside a lock holding a large golden key. On the right, a purple figure looks upwards with their arms raised, while a yellow figure with a pink head holds a walkie-talkie. The warm lighting and dramatic arrangement give the scene the accidental vibes of a Renaissance painting.

A digital drawing of two characters from Dilly. Two anthropomorphic characters, a bunny and a rat, are sitting at a bar, each minding their own business. The bunny, wearing casual clothes, is drinking some coffee while looking at the viewer with confusion. Meanwhile, the rat, who is wearing a torn shirt and spiky pants, looks more playful, while drinking a martini with a small piece of cheese on it.

Whenever Art Fight comes around, we get to see artists draw and connect with WAG characters we don't spotlight enough during the year. It means a lot to see that people do genuinely vibe with our characters! ❤️ I really want us to be able to make more stuff with them beyond the games they star in. 🥺

A digital drawing by Epsilon04. It features our Townseek character, Capt. Jawline. He's an anthropomorphic shark with steampunk clothes and goggles, doing a sassy pose.

A digital drawing by Thompispomfis. It features our Townseek character, Blubbie. She's a very viscous blue slimegirl, mostly blue with some purple accents. She's wearing fancy clothes that fit her slimy jelly-like appearance.

A digital drawing by PotatoesAtMidnight. It features our Whipped And Steamy character Buns Buns. She's an anthropomorphic white bunny with a pink bunny suit. She's looking very assertive, with her fist on her waist and leaning forward.

A digital drawing by VoidBreak. It features our Whipped And Steamy character Caffie. She's a barista with a pink apron, a pink and white hat, brown hair and a nose ring. She looks like she's having trouble serving her order, juggling a tray that has coffee and an oil canister. She seems to be serving the order to two characters who are only showing their silhouettes, but one of them has a strong resemblance to Eggman from the Sonic Series.

Worten, an electronics and technology retailer here in Portugal, just announced our country's first-ever store dedicated exclusively to PlayStation, with products such as consoles, controllers, merchandise and *physical games*. Did they, uh, not get the memo? 😅

A screenshot of an article from Eurogamer Portugal with the translated headline, “Worten opens the first official PlayStation store in the Iberian Peninsula.” Below is a photograph of a PlayStation shop-in-shop area inside Worten Colombo, with a tall blue PlayStation sign, display shelves holding accessories and boxed headsets, and a shelf of physical games behind them, despite the recent announcement that they'd be discontinuing disk production in 2028.

We haven't used our studio accounts much lately as we settle back into work, but somehow I've managed to turn our studio's For You page on Twitter into nothing but Pokémon plushies and Rowlet. Which, honestly, is the opposite of a problem and about as good as Twitter content can still be. 😅

A screenshot of our studio's Twitter For You page showing two consecutive Pokémon posts. The first is a video of Rowlet in Pokémon Legends, and the second is a photo of a large pile of Rowlet and Shaymin plushies, captioned "Hello hello".

The father is dressed as a park ranger and eating an enormous burger. The child is dressed as a scout and is playing with two character toys. A digital drawing of a character from I46578. It features a red haired woman with large glasses and a white coat surrounded by a very creepy black gooey creature with a lot of eyes. Various of the eyes are in a formation that make them look like teeth. On the top left, there is a cat that's half red on one side and half black on the other. Unfortunately, this is widespread. When I graduated, learning this was a common practice at the few companies with hiring power here was one reason I chose the indie route. If you're in a position to do so, push back against these! We're a creative medium, and our personal work should remain ours.

I'm no expert on the matter, but my current understanding of UK politics right now is that there's a guy with a bin on his head running for MP, while a Labour MP is promising to bring back Club Penguin in exchange for TikTok likes.

A costumed figure in black armour and a cape raises both arms while wearing a large bin-shaped helmet, running for MP as Count Binface.

A TikTok screenshot posted by Gordon McKee MP showing a red penguin inside a Club Penguin igloo, with a speech bubble reading, “Not just because it was fun for kids.”

Idk who needs to hear this but if you want to make a game and you're holding yourself back because you think it's not unique/special enough to stand out... just make it. If it's an idea you're passionate about, it doesn't matter. Just make the game. Make it and be proud you made it. It's yours.
