Portland cannot keep up with these transportation cuts. Once, Portland had the best transit system in the country, and yet the Uber wealthy demand to siphon off the lifeblood of our city, as Robber Barons have always done. Well, I'll happily give them something to cry about in January, 2029.

Housing First, that is and will always be the first and only solution that works. Instead of granting landlords handouts so they can keep their 15% unoccupied rates, we should instead be charging them a tax for every unused unit. Taxed at the rate of that company's most expensive unit in Portland.

It's nice to see a city actually doing the bare minimum. Go one step further and tax apartment complexes for every open unit after 60 days, at the facility's most expensive unit price. There's plenty of housing to go around, we just need to stop hoarding it!

I hate this take from Dr. Dave. It ignores the fact that Americans didn't vote for him. That tens of millions of voting age Americans have been unable to vote due to a slough of policies meant to disenfranchise them. Federal democracy hasn't been something the people have the unimpeded right to.
